OPEN POSTS WEEK SEVEN

Yeah...I know...I said week six would be out until after the hollidays. Guess we all have a little Clark, Ct. in us.

Caroline Kennedy. What to say? Oh how the moonbats loved to drag Sarah Palin around and now this. Just too funny reading the fawning and attempts to do a justification.

Madoff. Scott Burns had a nice column today showing that this character stole more than the sum of the last three years of crime against property in this country. Amazing. About 15 years ago I realized that the small amounts we had invested were doing rather flat. The three brokerage houses - Met Life, Fidelity and Putnam we did business with were returning about 5%. I learned as I went and the average up until this year was 12% but that is now about 8%.

The Raven. Talk about having to do some major damage control! Scott…earn your money. I suspect the Tribe will somehow withstand the shenanigans of the small or maybe large coterie of coat holders who hung around this guy and, IMO, took part in the smorgasbord of activities. May take a long, long time and may well cause a review of the whole process. The BOS is obviously having second thoughts on the whole package they signed off on and may now try and weasel their way into a more town friendly agreement. Beep…beep…beep…

Boston Red Sox. Thankfully Mark Teixeria decided to go elsewhere. The recent contract negotiations showed this young man to be just another in a long line of “Show Me The Money” types that have infiltrated sports. Yeah….I heard all the sob stories about returning to the bosom of his home town area in Maryland. Mommy, daddy and siblings all coming out to cheer him on. The O’s and Nats reportedly offered a 165 Mil for eight years and the Sox 168 Mil for eight. The Angels dropped out at 160 Mil. Sox put a lid out and folder. Natch he went where the money was - Noo Yawk! I knew all I wanted to know about Tex when the Sox brass went to his home in Texas - no state income tax. F-R-A-U-D! Home town? LOL!

The Noo Yawk yankees. They can spend as they please but the end result is a string of exorbitant contracts goes right down the food chain and puts the smaller market teams at even a greater disadvantage. Now a budding FA will cost even more to keep on your team so good luck to the lesser lights.

Speaking of lights the theme of the week is now been transferred from tribal legitimacy to a light show. Light pollution. Thank goodness we never built that 200 inch telescope on Barden Hill. I really have a dismissive attitude on that issue as I’d prefer turtles and water as a better long shot.

Pats. As a Giants fan I wish you well since my family is all Pats fans. So much for passing on my intellect. Pats really have had a great season to this point and if things fall into place they could be playing at home next week. Matt Cassell stands to do some heavy duty money grubbing after this season.

OPEN POSTS WEEK SIX

This one will probably extend to post Xmas since I am lazy enough and note clever enough to come up with brilliant and insightful posts and observations.

Winners and losers for the week.

Loser - CFO and the Grogfathers. Defense is limited to same to you, Mr. Limo!

Loser - Mark and Bogo and CPA - the handwriting is on the wall as a ground swell of non support is rising on the Bogo blog. Time for Bogo and MB to ride/run into the sunset.

Winner - GM as even they will probably squeeze some dough out of beleaguered tax payers.

Loser - President Perp. Obama was a Chicago pol and squeaky clean? ROTFLMAO! Money trail is leading to Emanuel. He’ll take the fall.

Winner - Toxic. CFO deflections and watchdog tactics have failed. Still going full bore.

Loser - Sal DiMasi. A CFO fav is having the noose tighten around him.

Winner - Middleboro Manners. Hey, it’s still around after two weeks and has more posters than nemasket.net.

Loser - Middleboro BOS. WTF is going on with getting a fire chief?

Winner - Pats fans. Pats get Raiders this week so The End is delayed a week.

Loser - NE weather. Why oh why don’t I move? One word - wife.

Winner - Bogo posters. No real need to supervise the playpen. Thanks.

Winner - Red Sox. Yankees sign Burnett - think Carl Pavano and Kevin Brown.

Loser - The state budget. Sooner or later they’ll have to send some hacks packing.

Loser - Credit cards. Cash is becoming king - if you have any.

Winner - CFO. No more fund raisers as they sign major endorsement deals with Miller’s and Dewar’s.

OPEN POSTS WEEK FIVE

The Brockton Enterprise is now a truly worthless paper. The deterioration came over a period of years and the transition I noticed initially was in the sports section. Use to be on Sunday you would have three or four notes columns on the various sports. No more. This also applies to the news other than that found in the “Toy Department, ” which is what they in the news biz call the sports department. Local news has shrunk. Coverage of stories seems inconsistent with lack of follow up. The Op-Ed page is something to just glance over. I realize this is the end result of changes in how we get our news but sitting down and reading the paper use to be entertaining, informative and enjoyable. Not anymore. I’ll drink my tea at the computer screen.

This week information has surfaced that Toxic is paying more than lip service to complaints by “alleged” CFO folks regarding information posted on that site. Good luck with that as the posters are a resilient and inventive lot. Reminds me of that scene in Karate Kid of trying to catch a fly with chop sticks. Great movie bit but virtually impossible. I’ll have the Tiki Buddha ship some sticks over for the next “gala.”

My wife has decided to paint the living room. Harmless enough project but she has now restored our aquarium and purchased some fish. In the world of fish my wife is Joseph Mengele as she experiments with various PH levels as the casualties mount. The rising death toll does have another negative side to it as the cats now realize some winter sports fun is fast disappearing.

Post away.

OPEN POSTS WEEK FOUR

A rather mild week since the nation was busy eating and making collective fools of themselves on Black Friday. Speaking of collective fools I guess that may apply to CFO with what has become to many an anti-Indian blogging trend. I'll leave that to the Toxic crowd and any posters who wish to address it on this site.

The only other enjoyable moment was sitting with my wife and watching her getting tortured by the Patriots performance. As a World Champion New York Football Giants (via NJ) fan it is just further proof that the real upset in SB 42 would have been the Patriots winning.

So just post away and raise any topic you wish or make comments that you feel may be of interest or will provide a cleansing rant.

OPEN POSTS WEEK THREE

A very exciting week as Hal managed to get into a skirmish or two...or three with a few others. I hope Hal continues to post on politics but I know he will on other matters. Hal. My two political favorites are HST and Winston Churchill and we all know what HST said about kitchens. Consider this site a kitchen as it appears all of the posters are to the right of your views. Me? I'm all over the political map but have a strong distaste for any orthodoxy from the right or left. So a view of CHB is guaranteed to get those hackles up. So, Hal, loosen up your keyboard and try to gather in some recruits for Moonbat Nation. I will sit back and enjoy while taking cheap shots at all. Just keep it within bounds, folks, or else. Hal has managed to maintain his composure and so have the others.

The economy continues to fail...and fail and the proposal from the Obama camp is an infusion of public works dollars. Can't hurt but IMO seems more of a union payoff than anything else. Trickle down economics in action. Worked more for Ike in the 50s than FDR in the 30s but go for it. Obama was also in agreement on the bailout so that is an issue he can't run and hide from as Nancy Pelosi attempted to do on a news show this morning. Looks like excessive Botox treatments do kill the brain cells specific to memory. For Obama even failure will be a success based on what has happened the last few years of Bush and counting the days. Bush can try and go one on one with Warren G, Harding for worse Prez in the last 100 or so years. Even the apparent victory in Iraq is quite hallow when no one is working. Hopefully, Obama will rethink his Afghan policy. Think Russia on that one.

In Massachusetts we have managed to accomplish zero population growth a task that has been accomplished by the fact that those who can escape do so. Governor Patrick has shown that his administration is classic do nothing and in reality the Legislature has called the shots. The good thing for Deval is a good portion of those Legislators will not be a problem unless they can cast their votes from Cedar Junction. Ah...the bliss of one party rule.

Locally it has been over a week since the latest foot-in-mouth pronouncements from a CFO aligned blogger so keep trolling, as I do, their site's for the latest faux pas. A sure bet if history holds any sway.

Post away.

Open Posts Week Two

Time to start a new week and maybe do my own version of TW3. TW3 was a great informative news show from the 60s that was decades ahead of its time - That Was The Week That Was - TW3.

The Clinton administration is taking shape…oops…did I say Clinton? Obama! Just looks like Clinton since Obama has managed to dredge up those Clintonians who have not been indicted but just been in hibernation or whining about Florida in 2004. Eight years of Bush bashing but “W” certainly does supply an endless amount of material. Some much for “change.” I’m sure Cheney will pop up somewhere in the administration. Maybe as Surgeon General since he does have a wealth of medical information - especially treating hunting gunshot wounds and heart attacks.

The economy continues its downward slide and that has left the economist and both parties in a real state of flux. I’m sure that I expect some exotic type of bi-partisan voodoo ceremony to take place. Might as well as everyone has shown zero confidence in efforts to this point with the various indexes spiraling down another 20% after the Obama win. As HST said: “ Give me a one-handed economist! All my economists say, On the one hand on the other.” Next in line for the Corporate Welfare Queens is GM. Try this: “Get lost!”

Iraq is getting further and further off the front page as the stage this “war” appears to be in is one of pacification. Obama has already set his sites on Afghanistan since were are present and this will give the new Prez an opportunity to do some international muscle flexing, especially with those pesky Ruskies starting to arm up and raise a bit of a fuss. Nice to know he’ll bring that ’Hood Attitude to the table. I hope someone mentions to Medvelev that Germany is now unified and has not had a war for 60 or so years so it might be better to concentrate on getting oil back to $140 a pop.

In Lil’ old Mboro we have a new Fire chief so that is reason to go to the Central to celebrate. The casino is just muddling along with a CRAC (I think) report that had something to do with safety and ambulances. I’m sure I screwed that up but I’m not that enthusiastic about it. Besides if I want to know how and what to think about everything that is Mboro I’ll just peruse ( is that correct?) MR or BB’s blogs.

So, post away about any and all. Think about getting a set name to post with since anonymous may be one or ten folks.

OPEN POSTS WEEK ONE

In an useless attempt to bring some semblance of order I will create a new open post thread each week. This is just as the title suggests - open. Careful with language and posting items that will have us collectively in court. Any topic you wish to start just go ahead. Any rant you need to do just go ahead. Any other post you wish to question just question. The floor is yours. No gavel.

Hope and Change

I might as well join the parade of pundits (whatever that is) and bloggers and toss in my own opinions of the recent election. From previous posts many of you will realize that I stayed on the sidelines except for my anti Barney Frank vote and the ballot questions. I will now place elections in my personal category to avoid - like Town Meetings. I will probably go to the polls and simply submit a blank ballot. Town elections will be a different story - the old Tip O’Neil line. The bailout bill was the final realization that everything appears to be “in the bag.” Color me CYNIC!

Hope and change I classify as BS and more BS. I have seen too much failure such as Jimmy Carter - deserted by his own party and Bush I who managed to go from the highest approval rating to virtually the lowest in a span of six months. I do not spend my emotional resources on vague terminology wrapped within “hope” and “change.” As the old commercial stated “show me the beef.” Some may compare the Obama coronation to that of JFK. Good luck with that. JFK was wrapped up in mythology brought about by tragic death. In reality it was a rather mundane administration. The recent win by Obama can be traced primarily to economic issues and they tied McCain to Bush on that issue. Excellent political strategy. With the “job” Bush had done the poll numbers in August should have been Obama 10+ and not virtually even.

The Congress is obviously where the problem is and will continue to be. Congress place settings is determined by about 60 seats in the House and another 10 in the Senate. These are the ones that are “vulnerable” either via retirement or indictment. They have a tendency to shift back and forth in large numbers such as the last election or smaller numbers as in the previous few elections. Congress will “read” the new President and determine just how far they can go. Think of the President as the adult and Congress as petulant teenagers. In some families they run the show. If things appear a bit sour after a year or two you will see about one third of the Democrats willing to bolt party lines on certain issues. This is quite similar to what the Republicans recently did with Bush. A clue is this has nothing to do with political integrity and party loyalty but everything to do with political survival. Last thing you want to be is one of those 60.

The new administration will attempt to deal with a mounting debt, a war that appears endless, health care issues, real unemployment of close to 10% (forget that 6.5 figure), an economy that has stalled, a punitive tax code and on and on. Maybe the hope and change crowd has illusions of success and I hope they are right, but history shows they will be bitterly disappointed. But Obama does have an out and that is Bush. That’ll give him a year or two. After that if things continue to go south you can always play the race card. If it comes to that the writing will be clearly on the wall and some new candidate will enter in the political turmoil on a platform of “hope” and “change.”

As a side note I will start a new open thread on Sunady and it will be labeled Open Post #1. Man...I am just soooo clever.

Open Posts Part Deux

I was out to supper - usually I'm just out to lunch - and we managed to get past 150 so here is another one to fill up with our collective wisdom. Another thing of interest. I may be on a run/ride with MB this coming Sunday and wonder is there any questions you would like me to ask him? He will have to answer since I'll be taking him into a section of Mboro where some local hillbilly types live. I can run so much faster than he can ride and he has "such a purty mouth." Ah...just think Deliverance. Question away.

Open Posts

Looks like I'm running well over 100 comments so I figured I'd just toss something out here so folks can post any comment, obsevration, bitch, whine, idiotic statement they want. We can then agree, trash them and generally just run amok.

Wandering Thoughts

Just a few comments to post since I have no real idea for another blog and am not good at cut and paste.

Time to expand off shore drilling. On the Gulf last week and Texans have no problem with it. Go for it.

Time to end foreign aid.

Columbus Day has reached it's shelf life.

Term limits are needed.

John Kerry and Barney Frank are just totally useless.

I have fantasies about Vegas Val.And Sarah Palin, also.

Josh Beckett is a very good pitcher you had one season (2007) that was super.

Bankers will now be in the same category as lawyers and used car salesman.

Model For A New Constitution by Rexford Guy Tugwell is still a great read.

Looks like Giants showed the way for how to beat the Patriots.

No matter how boring this piece is it will never match the bordom level of a BOS meeting.

I could care less about question #2 and #3.

I will vote YES on #1, however.

I have heard no resonable explanation for why we are in Afganistan.

Why did it take Congress two days to figure out rescue is better PR than bailout?

Commercial flying use to be an "experience" and it still is - insert caustic comment.

The Brockton Enterprise is a waste of ink.

What ever happened to small, medium and large?

McCain? Obama? What is the immigration policy for Canada?

I love the idea of school vouchers.

The Big Dig was a massive waste of money. Tips farewell gift to Massachusetts.

Being A Smart Travel Shopper

I had to come up with an idea for my blog. Energy was taken so that was off the table as was everything you wanted to know about Adam. Plus I don’t have the technical skills that blogger has. I could get into obscure town political issues like MB but I’ll end up falling asleep as I key. So I decided to do something in an area that I do have a degree of experience with - being a cheapskate.

Coupon codes. Where do you get those silly little codes that you see embedded in online sites? Try this place http://www.retailmenot.com/ That one is my favorite and in just the last week I had $50 knocked off a three night stay on a booking via Expedia and another $20 a night booking at Red Roof Inns. The material can be dated at times but new additions are constantly being added. What really makes this site great is the comments section that tells you what success or lack of others have had, clues to use and any other complaints or suggestions. A second site is http://currentcodes.com/ that is OK but not quite as friendly as the previous one. Another site that is usable is http://www.dealcatcher.com/ that can find you “stuff” before you buy. A final suggestion is http://www.shopzilla.com/ for comparison shopping.

Hotels can be a pain to book since rates can vary drastically for the same room. One place I occasionally use is http://www.yogoyo.com/ that is a consolidator. A consolidator is like a ticket scalper in that they purchase blocks of rooms to resell and sometimes they have rooms to dump. Three nights at The Allegro in Chicago last year for $159 a night or one third the rack rate. A second one is http://www.hotelconxions.com/Default.aspx?tabid=127 that can catch the occasional bargain as will http://www.quikbook.com/ that specializes in NYC. http://airfare.travelzoo.com/north-american-airfare/ has always been a favorite of mine for just about anything to do with travel. TZOO usually pulls in info from several other sites and also some that seem rather obscure. Last year I got a $200 a night weekend rate at The Millennium in Times Square. This is a four star hotel and they tossed in breakfast for two and a $50 hotel coupon good for anything. I checked their rate online and it was $600 a night with NO goodies tossed in. Usually $200 a night in NYC will not even buy you a cot over a subway grate. TZOO will also have some Broadway theater tickets at steep discounts. With hotels it is always a good idea to call direct to see if there are any special promotions available that are rarely included on internet searches. Some chains will also guarantee lowest rate.

http://www.kayak.com/ and http://www.bookingbuddy.com/?departure_city=boston&source=kayak_boston_airfare will patrol every site for you. This is essential the same site but I have noticed differences when I do a search. The problem I have had with both at times is that when they connect me to the providers site the fare changes. Air Tran and Jet Blue really just suck at doing that to you. Kayak will also give you the total price rather than when you connect and find another 50% in fees. http://insideflyer.com/ is a subscription site as is http://www.bestfares.com/ but they do have some “stuff” that can help. On both I have often found the offered fares restrictive or hard to book.

I always recommend that you cross check any potential bookings. Go to various sites and, of course, the providers site. Airlines have sign ups for specials and last minute deals that are sometimes not available at the traditional sites. You will also find that virtually all travel sites have very similar rates but their fees may be different. It’s a generality but I’ve found Expedia. Com to be the most reasonable and Hotels.com the most expensive. As far as response when you “get screwed” I had exception customer survive from expedia and orbitz. Expedia called a Las Vegas hotel direct and got me in an upscale room and several coupons and it was the hotel screw up. Then they emailed me a $50 good faith coupon. This was for a $200 booking! So sometimes customer service is a plus.

A place I ALWAYS visit before I book a hotel is http://www.tripadvisor.com/ that gives reviews that are excellent. Reader submitted and a lot more in depth than the review links from travel sites. A few miscellaneous sites are http://www.friendlyplanet.com/ and http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/ that offer some interesting deals. Last year I was on Friendly Planet and saw a 18 day cruise in Australia and New Zealand including air fare from California for $1,800 TOTAL! I actually called them up and it was correct and was told if I booked in 24 hours it would be an outside cabin and a $100 ship coupon. We could not go but this is the type of stuff you can occasionally run into. Here is another I got for next week that I passed on since I’ll be in Texas. Outside cabin for a four day cruise at $199 PP and that is a 192 sq. foot cabin. I called and was told that an inside was #399! Go figure. Sometimes you will find something right out of nowhere.

A final suggestion is one I never used but others do it for peace of mind. http://www.insuremytrip.com/ As I said I’ve never used them but others have and claim they are top notch.

So far I have just scratched the surface and listed a few favorite places and there are many, many more. Again, double check everything.

Anyone feels this has any value feel free to copy it to your site, blog or tattoo it on your spouse.

A Very Nice Post....and Another

This was out on Tpxic this morning...well...last night since I read it this morning. Found it to be quite appropriate.

I've added another entry to this list from Topix by a poster called My2cents.

Yup, I'm sure it is getting increasingly difficult for CFO to get press - considering their miserable track record. Let's see there was the BIG protest at the State House. I'm sure reporters were pretty ticked off when they discovered the throngs of CFO supporters totaled roughly 20 people, nearly half of whom were children. Then there was the time CFO's LEGIONS of loyal followers were going to recall the sitting Selectmen and have them replaced with the likes of Recall Queen, Jessie Powell. Yup, Jessie still shoots her mouth off about the Selectmen, despite being miserably defeated twice now. Somehow she can't seem to grasp the notion that she's alone in her opinions. I can't see any responsible media outlet giving her a platform again, as she's lost all credibility. Except maybe with WASS in Clark, CT. Yup, a meeting with a turn out of one - doubt Comcast will ever come to another meeting. At this juncture, CFO seems like little more than a couple of bored, angry housewives, who've created a "virtual" army of sock puppet supporters in order to mislead and intimidate the community. JP, MT, and MB are three nut cases as far as I'm concerned. ALL of them need professional psychiatric help if you ask me.

As for RY, KS, CP and the rest - they should be ashamed of themselves for spurring on and encouraging obviously disturbed people to negative action. They should be encouraging their friends to get the professional help they clearly need. Deliberately trespassing with turkey feathers? Trying to bribe someone into surrendering their website? Stalking & harassing people? Increasingly nasty and threatening blogs? Talk of Kool-Aid, Blog fathers and flying monkeys - these are cries for help. It's not funny, this is really sick stuff.

If something isn't done soon to stop the escalation, I can really see one or more of them ending up in jail.

No the other tribes have not received federal recognition. The only other in Massachusetts has been trying to open a casino since the Bill Weld years.

The other tribes are jealous.

The haters are the Task Force members. How many times was "LOW PAYING JOBS" said and that they did not want those people to come to their town.

Guess what, they already live there and work there. They just are too stupid to see it.

"THOSE PEOPLE" are the people who make and serve them food at a local diner. They are the people who sell them food and milk at the grocery store or work at the produce market on Route 44. They are the people who pump their gas (or press the accept button at self serve) and towel off your car after it is washed. They are the people who care for your children at day care. They are the people who deliver your newspaper every morning or night or the furniture you bought.

They're the people that you meet. When you're walking down the street. They're the people that you meet, each, daaaaaaaaaaaay.

THEY ARE THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED YOU INTO OFFICE and will vote you out if you don't want to live with them.

On Line Gaming

Some of you may know that I have a baseball site I am active in. There are a handful of us that share in the management and expenses of maintaining the site. This is not a lot of money yearly and is just a way to get together for game time chat, have posting boards and trash the yankees (always small caps). Recently our site was offered a small amount of money to allow online gaming. Here is the latest missive:

Thanks for your reply,

I have talked to my supervisor as I like your site and she is ready to increase the original prize of 25USD for three months to $40 for 3 months. I really hope we can work it out and have a long term business relationship between us.

Please let me know if you have any questions

Looking forward to hear from you
Regards,

I have not included the name of the person involved but my understanding is that the offer will now be $100 for three months. Each time an offer is made we reject it. In fact an email to members show a uninversal rejection.

Online gaming offers a burgening business. In a previous incarnation of middleborocasino.com I had an extensive post on online gaming on which I had actually done legitimate research. The returns to the player were actually higher than in traditional casino settings - less expense, but I had some real problems with the whole concept. Just concerned about the ease with which money can disappear, lack of tax income and ease of access for minors to highlight a few. You may agree, disagree or be neutral.

Stood Up By The Tribe

Looks like an invite for Mboro must be in the mail. Guess Shawn and Scott just forgot that invite? Maybe an update of the email list is needed? Appears at this point Mboro is being squeezed out of the loop or, just maybe, this is an "oversight." LOL! Sure.

Looks like Adam is sitting there in his tux with some flowers and a LL Limo ready to take him to the big dance. Unfortunately, his date has gone with Deval instead and left him holding those prom tickets. Maybe Glenn will go?

I really am not surprised as they have already gotten what they want from us - a home run on the first date! Call you sometime next week, Hon. Thanks for the good time. Now, we can all sit back and watch that CPI be drained and drained as the investors can wait and wait for economic boom times to return. What will that 7MIl be worth in 2013? Maybe 5MIl in today's change?

So....does anyone really seriously expect the state to give us anything from the slots? And surrounding towns? Lotsa luck on that. Host community of Lincoln, R.I. gets, I believe, 2% from the state.

Personally, this is really a huge put down for the town and casino proponents. Tribe could have at least tossed a bone our way.

MB and You Know What

This topic has now taken on a life of it's own so why not start a thread on it?

I'm not defending his actions since he did trespass and did it knowingly. Something as an avid trail runner I have done many times. I've been in that area literally hundreds of times and there are many, many trails that have a quasi public use - trail bikers, horses, bike riders, walkers and I have run across countless people over the years I've been in that area with no complaints. As a runner power lines are great since they usually break into trails off the lines and I'll follow them. At nemasket.net, when I was actually on the site, I had an extensive list of trails in the Mboro area and I think Mark was following one of them. I've also collected feathers through the years and have actually given them to science classes or used them in lessons by creating quill pens. Canada Geese were usually the best but turkey feathers are quite common and I use to pick them up.

At least he addressed the issue and did not avoid it like MT and JP did. As far as the total package of his actions I can't comment on that but you folks are free to do so. Mark gave his explanation and both he and we will have to live with it.

You can check out his blog at http://bellicose-bumpkin.blogspot.com/2008/08/bumpkin-public-menace.html

Is CFO A PAC?

I have been following this issue on Toxic and have posted some of the posts, a sample, from that creative and wonderful site (insert sarcasm). I have no idea if it is or is not a PAC? Much of this is in reference to their proposed yard sale. Here are a few of the posts from someone, certainly not me, who appears in the know on this issue. I don't know what their status is. Maybe someone else does?

CFO seems worried about permits for cooking marshmellow. This weeks Gazette says "CasinoFacts.org is a non-profit organization, and the request was submitted by.." CP. What type of 501(c) is CFO? Are they really a PAC?

Here is some non-profit information:
http://www.irs.gov/charities/foundations/arti...

http://www.irs.gov/charities/political/index....

Lobbying Activity of Section 501(c)(3) Private Foundations

Private foundations that spend money on lobbying activity will incur an excise tax on those expenditures; this tax is so significant that it generally acts as a lobbying prohibition.

In addition, a private foundation does not qualify for section 501(c)(3) status if a substantial part of its activities is attempting to influence legislation (commonly referred to as lobbying). Legislation includes action by Congress, any state legislature, any local council, or similar governing body with respect to acts, bills, resolutions, or similar items (such as legislative confirmation of appointive office), or by the public in referendum, ballot initiative, constitutional amendment, or similar procedure.

A foundation will be regarded as attempting to influence legislation if it contacts, or urges members of the public to contact, members or employees of a legislative body for the purpose of proposing, supporting, or opposing legislation, or if the foundation advocates the adoption or rejection of legislation.

Is CFO A PAC? Have they registered and filed reports? Here is some PAC information

http://www.fec.gov/ans/answers_pac.shtml

The term "political action committee" (PAC) refers to two distinct types of political committees registered with the FEC: separate segregated funds (SSFs) and nonconnected committees. Basically, SSFs are political committees established and administered by corporations, labor unions, membership organizations or trade associations. These committees can only solicit contributions from individuals associated with connected or sponsoring organization. By contrast, nonconnected committees--as their name suggests--are not sponsored by or connected to any of the aforementioned entities and are free to solicit contributions from the general public. For additional information, consult our Separate Segregated Funds and Nonconnected Committees fact sheet
After registering with the FEC, PACs must file regular reports disclosing their receipts and disbursements. PACs have the option to file these reports quarterly or monthly, and may change their filing frequency as often as once a year. PACs that choose to file quarterly may be required to file certain pre- and post-election reports, depending on their activity. Please consult our reporting page for more information.

Perhaps MB can write about this in his Gazette article and Middleboro Review and Gladys Kravitz can blog about it.

PACs have the option to file these reports quarterly or monthly, and may change their filing frequency as often as once a year. PACs that choose to file quarterly may be required to file certain pre- and post-election reports, depending on their activity.

Please ask what their legal status is at the next meeting for the public record. I would but fear retribution. We have a right to know exactly who wants to use our town property. Are they a non profit PAC? Sounds impossible.

The Best Of Topix (AKA-Toxic)

Topix (AKA-Toxic) has become a source of dismay and envy for the CFO bloggers who, of course, never lower themselves to the level of the Topix miscreant posters. In fact when one views the more virulent CFO blogs - virtually all - you will find it littered with some of the more pronounced Bon Mot's of the Toxic crew. Many post on Topix certainly fit into the Mary Tufts over the top category but many others represent an outlet for a years worth of stored bile that is more on target than off. I have decided to post a few of the more choice ones of today (not mine) that I have found to be interesting.

Feel free to post any additions as the days go by. These are just a sample from a gander at Topix today and I could easily post another twenty.

From a posted called "JP is a Joke."

She has learned NOTHING. She is as posinous and clueless as ever. Her latest statement read like something out of the funny pages:

"Middleboro Selectmen should change their motto to: Never Present The Facts. My Mind is Already Made Up."

Jessie talking about FACTS? CLARK CT 100 ESL TEACHERS

Her motto should be "What can I do today to make sure people will always remember me as the sta-puft marshmellow from Clark CT."

OR

"Never let the 'TRUTH' get in the way of blogging"

OR

"It is better to crticize and complain than to do"

From a poster called "LMAO."

How does it feel, cfo? All those blogs for over a year and now finally a place where they can be answered. Just cruising your blogs one can see the focus on Toxic that you have. How do you enjoy the nastyness on this site? IMO it has a long, long way to go before matching yours. How does it feel knowing your control is limited to faxes, phone calls and emails to Toxic? This is what many have endured with your bloggers for over a year. The personal attacks, especially by MT and JP, that would just go on endlessly. They still continue to this very moment. Your posting boards are closed to one mindset and always will be. But you are welcome here.

I'm sure this will have no impact since none of you read Toxic. LMAO! I'm sure you will have MT continue her "cute" little videos but, naturally, any pictures posted here will be removed. Oh, that's right, you folks don't read Toxic. LMAO!

From a poster called "Blogs."

They can cry all the want. Mary Tufts, Kim Shea and Carl Pierce are all toxic. Carl may single handedly make it so no real quality group can raise money on the lawn of the Lakeville Town Hall. Mary and her actions and lies that have been proven here are now dwindling since her husband must have said, Either Rich Young or Me... You choose. Then there is Jacquie Tolosko, who moved out of town and pretends to be no part of this but cannot stay out of it. Where is Rob Desrosiers? He was up to his eyes in all this stuff? Where is he now? I guess there is not much to say about any of them.

From a poster "More Racism."

I can't believe that Carver Chic, otherwise known as Kim Shae would reprint this outrageous racist statement:

"cdplakeville said...

I continually remain in the fight for the quality of life for my children. My family has lived here longer than the Mashpee were a real "tribe". A polyglot of "praying indians" gathered in one place does not automatically make any one group a "tribe". I'm not in it for power, popularity or political agenda. I'm in it because it is the right thing to do, win or lose."

CDPLakeville, the Federal government disagrees with your racist take on Indian history. What kind of "quality of life" do your children have being raised by a parent who is apparently a proud bigot?

This kind of blatant racism is really shocking. Based on CFO's blogging campaign they seem to be morphing into an organized hate group. Anyone know who CDPLakeville is?

And from "A Dose Of Their Own Meds." Reads like "Val."

Actually, it looks like people are just giving Mary Tufts and Jessie Powell a little sample of their own medicine - seems as if they don't like the taste of it very much. Since they've ignored repeated polite requests to take down all the nasty personal insults and vicious trash they've posted; it looks like people have resorted to the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth strategy. It's a pity it has to be that way.
Actually, I think the posters on this forum have been too kind. These are public figures - PLEASE - use their full names! They use full names on their blogs. Speaking of blogs, I think more people should follow Raven's example and start their own blogs. I think Mary Tufts really needs to experience what it feels like to have some stranger trashing her on the Internet day after day. Let Mary's husband and kids be embarrassed to see their family name trashed all over the Internet. Let's let Mary see what it's like to explain her kind of crap to children, family members and her husbands co-workers. They think it's okay to go after Limo's business, Bond's career, Marsh's husband's career, etc. etc ? Fine! Maybe people should go after their businesses. Mary is already claiming that people did, when no one has done anything of the kind. The anti's are the ones who've pulled that kind of crap. Maybe people should give them a real taste of their own medicine? Maybe they need to see what it feels like to have complaints filed against their businesses? Maybe they need to have their professional reputations trashed online? Is that what it will take for these evil, mean spirited people to have some compassion and consideration for others? Looks like.
If these bloggers think Topix has been tough on them, I don't think they've seen anything, yet.

It's The Messenger!

I have stated many times that you can support the message and not the messenger as in the case of Jessie Powell. Mary Tufts is now in that elite company of the dishonored. Over a week and still no reasoning behind mass mailings or vandalism and this is looking every bit like a repeat of the JP issue that I so eloquently posted on somewhere in this collection. In my experience, first hand, is that when you "mis-speak" or post faulty data you hustle right up front to correct it or say "I screwed up." Totally acceptable. What is not is the bunker mentality that is being displayed and the support it gets from the ever shrinking CFO group. Now, I'm sure if there was any validity to what she posted it would have been front and center on her blog. Ain't there, folks. That, in my book, closes the deal.

Through the years I have been been shocked by behaviors of those I have supported in the political and sports arena. Again, in politics, you can and should support the message even if your messenger has serious character flaws - Hello! John Edwards - is the latest example. Does it mean what he says is without value simply because he had a track record of dishonesty? Of course not and the same would apply to a Craig or Ted Kennedy or the myriad of politicians who seem to be prone to personal attempts at self destruction. Again, support the message.

Seems like this issue will be handled the same way Jessie handled her "problem." Ignore it and rely on the drones of your shrinking support group for reassurance. Jessie at least had the good sense to find an issue that could resurrect some semblance of being a public person. I suspect this will not happen with the latest adventure of foot-in-the-mouth. I won't even get into chickens and mallets that seem to have gotten the Topix crowd going full bore.

CFO just looks like that Jackie Gleason character - "The Poor Soul." Anti casino folks have to stand alone at this point. Failure is their option.

Jessie Powell and Marshmallows

Amazing. Again, the lack of research surfaces with Jessie Powell. This is from Topix and it looks like Jessie was, again, wrong on a post. Don't know who wrote it but congrads. Seems that when "The Queen of Cut and Paste" is left to her own devices problems happen.

JP writes ( Right-Spelling mine)"Wampanoags"

"It was publicized after the fact, that the Mashpee "Wamponoags" ( Mis-Spelling hers) held a Sacred Ceremony on land that appears not to belong to them on Precinct St.,

Although the purpose of the Sacred Ceremony is unclear, as it is unclear that permission was obtained to trespass or to ignite an outdoor fire in what is generally a very dry month,
It really is shameful.

I attended Native American ceremonies and "earth blessing" rituals of several different tribes and they are serious and beautiful. What I saw from the pictures is mockery of what should be considered their religion. It would be like taking whiskey to a Catholic baptism or me wearing a pentacle to a Catholic Church. It is unheard of to take marshmallows to something like this. Naive and stupid."

You see JP, People knew there would be one knuckle head out there that would try and say this or that about a permit.

So pulling a "cooking permit" for the event. Well.. You needed to have something to cook to make it Legal.Marshmallows was agreed upon.

Now personally, I felt It was symbolic of the marshmallow brain that would write a negative blog about permits and such for this event.. Being first you win the prize. lol

You win. a story from me. My highest Honor.lol

Over 230 positive people attended this event. I must say it was beautiful like the indian events you describe. To bad no media, Following tradition of this being a sacred event. I was Honored to be invited, What a feeling it was to be part of History in the making.

Sorry you missed out.

Stay at your computer while life passes you by.

Mass Mailings

§ 100.27 Mass mailing (2 U.S.C. 431(23)).
Mass mailing means a mailing by United States mail or facsimile of more than 500 pieces of mail matter of an identical or substantially similar nature within any 30-day period. A mass mailing does not include electronic mail or Internet communications. For purposes of this section, substantially similar includes communications that include substantially the same template or language, but vary in non-material respects such as communications customized by the recipient's name, occupation, or geographic location.

Someone posted that on Topix regarding a post Mary Tufts (AKA - Gladys Kravitz) made regarding some of the tactics of the pro casino forces. I cannot dispute much of what Mary posted except to say that there appeared to be a certain level of agitation present on both sides. At the TMFH hell I was greeted with some hoots for clapping after a few anti casino remarks. Being in a tent with X number of union types I was a very distinct minority - even greater than the final 67% to 33% drubbing. But back to the post.

GK claims that one of the aspects of the actions of the pro's was a mass mailing. What? I don't recall any such thing. I've asked around yesterday and today and neither does anyone else. This has resulted in a "call out" on Topix by some of the more ardent pro forces and anti GK forces of some proof - and I certainly would like to see some. Based on GK's previous supported of Jessie Powell on her noted lies I suspect there may not be any. If so, why keep it in the blog? Makes no sense. Then again, neither did that fowl attempt at humor.

From my own experience on multiple posting boards it is best to supply the FACTS or to say it was a simple mistake and remove that portion of the post. I have done that several times myself as it is no big deal. But when you leave false information out there and support false information all that does is reaffirm the obvious.

I have, as you can see if you waste time reading my stuff, post considerable information on baseball. With baseball I have discovered, as with virtually everything else, that opinions can change as the facts change. I never really have seen that applied with most of the anti casino group. Some, like MB, are at least will mention that they have, like me, a price on the issue. Too bad it has taken on a take no prisoners aspect for many of the anti casino crowd as all that will do is isolate them from actually being a viable force.

Jessie Being Jessie

I managed to get a post on Jessie's blog regarding the ongoing issue of Rockland Industries. Those who know Striar (Danny to Jessie) realize the extend of personal damage he has caused. Dan Striar contributed significant amounts of money locally - the "Y,", Mayflower playground, his family donated a wildlife area and I could go on and on. I consider this nothing more than clear conscious money. His attempt to, like the industrialist of old, to buy a stairway to heaven or a Strair-way to heaven which is the term I have used in letters to the "Y." and PERSONALLY to Dan Strair. Some, like myself, wrote letters to the Old Colony "Y" asking that contributions be refused. Got nowhere. Some of us have experienced the consequences of ALS first hand. A gruesome disease in that it robs the body but not the mind. There is enough evidence to show that the actions of Rockland Industries contributed to this in Middleboro.

I am a runner. I run trails. In the late 70s I was issued a no trespass order for the Rockland Industries site since I would occasionally run on or near the area. Think I still have it somewhere or possibly sent it to Vic Sylvia. A memento. Long time ago and the mind just does not function well with us old folks. I have personally seen questionable practices on that site. I have reported it and so have others and virtually nothing was done. Somewhere in Vic Sylvia’s files will be a write up on this which I sent to him. Vic saved everything and I hope that somewhere that piece of information may have helped him. Here is Jessie's reply to my post and my return volley.

bogo aka Rick McNair,

I appreciate that you are reading my posts, but don't appreciate your levity.

As they say, 'don't quit your day job.'

Ooops! You don't have a day job!

While you were self-absorbed, others were absorbing chemicals that caused some pretty horrendous diseases like Lou Gehrig's (ALS).

ALS is a gruesome death sentence that seems linked to the chemicals Danny Striar knowingly buried and concealed.

The advantage of moderated comments is that I don't have to post them all. (And rest assured, not all of them are posted.)

I have neither the time nor the inclination to address nonsense and would suggest that you continue to post your unproductive nonsense on topix where no one reads it.

Thanks for reading.

Jessie...if anyone knows toxic it is you and that has also been well documented. I enjoy your blog....quite entertaining...like DC comics. Just remember your track record of dysfunctional behavior towards others and posting of false data and, of course, refusal to acknowledge it. I guess that classifies as nonsense? I guess that time and inclination does not extend to your research? Comes back, doesn't it? But occasionally you strike a cord of truth and Dan (Danny to you) was one. You know that from back in the day when we actually communicated - you know, back before I found out you were a liar. I remember a long conversation at the "Y" about Dan (Danny to you)and the Rockland site. Right on the exercise bike, Jessie. Forty minutes at least. I even mentioned his picture hanging on the wall at the "Y" and what I had done regarding his contribution. Even mentioned what I had done in the past. Letters, talking to Dan (Danny to you), battles with his hospital system and even sending info to Vic. You must have forgotten. I know you told me about the transfer of dirt from the site to the soccer field and I mentioned I was unaware of it. Might not even be true knowing your track record of honesty. You said some other stuff about Jack regarding this issue. Won't bother saying what since it is of little importance. Just wanted to establish a track record on this topic so that you realize that some old folks don't forget. That you, Jessie, were, at least aware superficially, that I had actually done something on this issue. Not as much as I should have.

For some reason being retired seems to actually be an issue with you, Jessie. Why is that? Seems to be the same with one of your toxic twins or triplets, also. Guess I should be ashamed for working for 45 years. Nasty old me. LOL.

Sometimes idiots mention things like the death sentence of ALS WITHOUT knowing how it has struck their family personally. I just chalk that up to the continuing ignorance of Jessie. Or is ir arrogance of Jessie? Guess both really fit. But, then again, maybe you forgot about my aunt, Jessie? Told you all about her. You must have had that slip your mind, Jessie. Getting old is tough.

I found the issue on Dan (Danny to you) quite interesting. But, then again, that goes way, way back before you honored Middleboro with your self important passion for causes. Some of us were self absorbed a long time ago. You know that quite well.

I like Topix, Jessie, since it seems a number of posters have you pegged. I'm just glad that on nemasket I managed to make a significant contribution to your political evisceration. At least you are concentrating on more "productive" blogging rather than your long history of personal attacks on others - leave that to me with my occasional posts regading you. By the way...have you removed your links to Mike? Didn't think so. So much for the moral high ground, Jessie. LOL!

Now, back to waiting for the pension checks to arrive. Work hard CFO toxic posters, especially Jessie- you do work, Jessie? as old Bogo (AKA Bratbird/therealraven) needs the money. Keep SS solvent!

Jessie - Go For It!

Adam Bond recently gave his dear old friend, Jessie Powell, a bone of credit by complimenting her on the data accumulated and presented on her blog regarding energy and environmental issues. I'm sure that Adam was pleased to actually read something on Middleboro Review or Middleboro Recall that did not accuse him of virtually creating every know problem on this planet and various others scattered throughout the universe. Adam left it at that. Others did not and have asked for Jessie to Go For It! As in Energy Council.

Now on certain environmental issues I agree with Jessie - but I would recommend caution since many a report is with a certain political slant. The reader should also be aware of "facts" when dealing with anything Jessie writes. But make up your own mind. That brings us to the topic at hand the Energy Council.

At a fast fading web site (this one has already faded) some of the glad handing folks are encouraging her to apply. I say go for it! Jessie has managed to backtrack a bit on this issue since it would mean appointment by the BOS. Maybe they'll let bygones be bygones and pass on all those nasty things said about them? Then again, maybe not? Worth a try. Jessie has admitted that there are others that have "far greater expertise" and that is probably so. I know one former BOS member, who she occasionally berates, who has forgotten more about energy than Jessie or I will ever know. But, IMO, having no knowledge or limited knowledge has never stopped Jessie (or myself and others) from having an opinion. With any board you certainly learn and learn quickly and Jessie has a solid base of knowledge. Go for it!

My real concern is dynamics. My own experience has shown me that conversations with Jessie usually amount to a lecture and not an exchange, "Let me educate you" stands out. Can Jessie be part of a team? One way to find out. Jessie- APPLY! Go For It! I would encourage the BOS to appoint her.

I Love Drive By Morons

This is a post from Topix. Topix is the only thing that possibly has lower standards than I do. I try my best to go lower and lower and lower but just can't catch up with the idiots and drive by morons.

The following is a post from one and my response. I'm putting it here since other bloggers have so much stuff and I have so little. This way I will not strain my creative talents.

Really is a Pity wrote:
that poor ole bogofree is morphing into such a persnickety curmudgeon in his advancing years. That new blog is just a pathetic regurgitation of the same old same old we've all had to endure from him over the past 2 1/2 months. I suspect that a lack of serotonin is causing his synapsis to misfire out of sequence. Too bad. He's become a mere shadow of his former self. Wit replaced by snarling jabs. Pity really.

***************************
Thanks for the ad, drive by moron, and I'm glad to have ANYONE take a gander at it - even a drive by moron. I'm lower on the depth charts than that Bush guy. I don't even read it myself since my ego doesn't need anymore dents than you have given me. Too many times you used "old" and I hate to be reminded.

I tell you it's tough writing those blog things. I spend about five minutes on them which is apparent if you read it. Gladys is more polished with all those videos and such. Great work. A skill. Art form with her and bathroom art with me. Seen some others like hers in baseball. Great graphics. Even that guy with the pug ugly 'stash (inside joke) makes my blog look pathetic. No wit at all. You might say I'm witless! Witless! OMG! That is so freaking clever I'll have to work it into a blog.

I hate to feel so lonesome and loathsome so I'll write (or is that right?) somemore now that I have such a following. Maybe MB will link to it? Hey, even LL checks in with a comment. That's how low brow it is. Hey, it attracted you. Believe me I know ALL about morons. Not me! I'm talking you and LL. I'm a saint!

In a way I'm shocked that anyone would find anything I write of any interest negative or otherwise. Any PR is good PR. Look at the tribe. They live off bad PR. That Ferson spins better than a top.

I'm sure my traffic count will go way up if I could figure out or even care about it now that you have reviewed it. Review? Good name for a blog. Talk about a get a life person. Reading my stuff! LMAO! Get a hobby. Weed our garden. Great hobby for you. Turn over the compost. Hey....I could have called my blog The Compost Pile.

As you can tell from the blog title who our star is! Ms. Clark herself. Actually, very little on her. Not much left to say. She's said it all.

Man...I wish I was a shadow of my former self. Those pounds. Blame it on the Red Sox. When they win I reward myself with a coffee roll. Been some good eating this season. Did the same with the C's and the Giants - I'm a big NY (via NJ) Football Giants fan. Right here in the belly of the Patriot beast. Three titles in one year! Those Honey Dew coffee rolls. Great. And the political talk that goes on in that place. Stay away. Too many pro types.

Looks like CFO has managed to round up all the drive by morons! Hope, drive by moron, that you are not on their books. That would be really hitting the bottom. Snarl. snarl. snarl. LMAO! Even lower than LL posting on my blog. That's Death Valley low.

Oh....I have a baseball blog. Interested? Naw....I'll let you "research" it out. Great stuff the other day on RISP percentages. Planning to do a piece on Red Sox ST in San Antonio in 1926. Have a web site also. I'd have you sign up but I'm the resident moron and you look like a talent that could easily replace me. So stay away!

A Big Thank You

Yesterday I stopped at Honey Dew to get a coffee roll and coffee (black) and someone recognized me. No...not Adam. They thanked me and another poster, Dal, from Nemasket.net for all the entertainment and truth we provided.

Turns out this person and others were trolling the nemasket.net site and had copied all the exchanges I (we) had going on with MR and MB. They would distribute them to town employees on a daily basis who would get a chuckle out of them. Now I am sure if MR reads this she will get on her bandwagon of one and bleat on about town employees. Just remember, MR, that when you walk in all those folks you publicly trashed are now getting a nice chuckle. Clark CT will always live in the hearts and minds of many.

Another Reason To Hug My Wife

The following was given to me from another posting board. I will respond to it here. It revolves around an exchange I had on the BB blog regarding a letter I signed off on. A letter that I had some trepidations about signing but now have none since I have come to recognize the true "value" of CFO. If you are anti casino I urge you NOT to work with them. You will accomplish more on your lonesome.

*****************************************************************************

Bogo, the letter was stupid. "We're not accusing you of racisim... and yet, we are..."

Anti-Indian Gaming?? How about anti-gambling period.

Hissy fits? Recently, I was alerted to the fact that a certain message board favored by you and your airborn simian glee club.

There I found distasteful references to my children, my marriage, my sex life, my attractiveness or lack thereof, and even my bosom. Some of which you had participated in. So pardon me if your righteous indignation doesn't move the earth for me.

Among other things on this message board, I found you ridiculing our trip to the Statehouse last September.

First of all, CFO is not The Nature Conservancy. You do not just get to write a check and complain if we don't do things the way you want. We are grassroots. We DO things. Unlike you, a retiree with copious amounts of time to catch ball games and perseverate on message boards, many of our members are parents with jobs and other responsibilities. And yet, we still managed to show up at the Statehouse. Where were you? I've only seen you at ONE meeting. I mean, hey, thanks for spanking VV every now and then and all the stuff about Glenn Marshall, but what else have you done?? I could tell you what I've done since May of last year, despite not being a retiree, to keep a casino out of Middleboro, but I don't have the hour it would take to type it all down.

There are folks in CFO who've spent more time writing editorials, DOI and BIA letters than even YOU'VE spent on your various ridiculous forums.

Listen, a casino can be kept out of Middleboro but it needs people to make the effort.

As for the Statehouse rally, it was held on a specific date we suspected would be a slow news day. It was, and CFO (including my family) got on all the news channels and papers. As for the man with the giant YES sign - that was the joke. And he took this fact so well that he started a contest about me and a half-year long tirade about my shorts.

But, had you been there, you would have known that.

To use a phrase coined by your generation, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Thank you, Bumpkin for letting me get that out of my system.

******************************************************************************

My...my...my...talk about the needs for meds and blood pressure pills. And I thought I go nuts over the Red Sox. Topix? I actually use my sign on. Novel idea. I could care less about the antics of old LL and have hammered him many a time. I do believe attacking his business and wishing for his death is a bit over the top. I tend to observe on Topix and occasionally participate in the madness when I am mentioned. I'm sure if CFO was a nature conservatory we'd be up to our collective armpits in mercury and who knows what else.

I'm glad you sit on the BOD of a failed organization. Just shows that the bottom has really fallen out. Calm down and present yourself as a rational public person. Sounds like a lot of anger. Even AB can do that. And Hal. Tony I'm not so sure about. Guess that happens when hard "work" all falls apart around you. Hey, don't worry, you still have hope. Always a glimmer. As far as part of the solution it appears that CFO is the problem at this juncture and not the solution. Clearly an organization that is not interested in building bridges but burning them. Too bad. They once had some solid folks on that BOD.

The reason I drifted away from CFO is the simple conversations I overheard. I know a looney collection when I see it and a pack of NIMBY's, religious zealots and moral high grounders are the last thing I want to be associated with. I have and will spend by valuable time on worthy and sane causes that keep me as far away as possible from assorted fruitcakes. Age has taught me an uncanny ability to recognize them. I messed up on the MR situation and posted as such. Hey...not hitting a 1.000. The warning bells went on very early with CFO. Could tell exactly what direction they would be going in - down the tubes. And I certainly ridiculed your "vibrant" organization for their failed rally. That is exactly what it was. You folks have no steam. Nothing. Running on empty. That's a fact. Hope you succeed but it looks like the bottom of the ninth and your down eight and you have no Casey on your roster. With all the tribal screw ups and the developers background you should be riding high. The Cat Bird Seat to quote Red Barber. But...no. The toilet seat. Talk about not having the ability to close the deal.

The personal attacks on you are a truly distasteful tactic. Right out of the Monkeymoon or whatever playbook. I have even posted on this very blog being subjected to the same treatment on Topix. I totally blame CFO for my plight and totally blame pro casino folks for your similar situation. As far as participating in attacks on you? Really? I could care less about your body and your family other than to wish them well. However, I suspect that a turn around does not exist on that issue. You folks seem like a vengeful lot when your ire is up and I certainly hope this is the end of it.

Here is the problem I have with CFO. Most of what I manage to write happens to be anti casino. Probably 75% but once you go against the grain they come at you. That pattern is clearly displayed on Topix. I totally blame CFO. Then when you folks support a confirmed liar it only shows that maybe there is still room to sink a little further. I will, unlike others, adjust my opinions as the facts change. I always felt the tribe was "useful idiots" to the developers and now I certainly disagree with what you folks have attracted to your "big tent." Funny, never really had the same venomous response from the pro casino forces even when I was excessively nasty on CFO message board. That was the one that was shuttered over the CFO and their followers crazies.

I'm sorry that the fact I happen to be retired presses on you so. I manage to travel and go to sporting events when I can. I'll be in KC in early August for a three game set against the Royals. As I said my time is valuable. Happens when you get older so why should I waste it supporting an organization without a moral compass? Supporting an organization that has no concept of consilatory methods? An organization that will simple have the ends justify the means. I will not be one of your "useful idiots."

I wish you folks well. Really do. I hope that miracle happens and some how you rally. But the odds are probably 10-1 against you at this point. If you do succeed and a gin mill is not built I will write the blog of blogs praising your collective efforts and my failure to comprehend that you managed to beat that windmill.

I Told You So

When this magical deal was signed about a year ago several portions certainly got my attention. I'm generally in favor of casinos but am a NIMBY who is against a bad deal. On aspect that hit me right away was the CPI not starting from the moment the deal was signed. I'd posted on it at several sites included the shuttered CFO site.

The developers are in no hurry to build. Why should they be? Bond market and credit market is a joke. Revenues are down at casinos as discretionary spending diminishes and gas prices rise. Casino biz is in a real flux until the eventual economic upturn happens. Say it is 2013 and a washed up entertainer or sports celebrity is ready to glad hand the customers. The gin mill doors are officially opened and the money starts to roll in. Seven mil depreciated over a five year period at who knows what for inflation. Five percent and we'd be lucky. I ran the figures last year at 3% and it amounted to 6.3 mil in 2013 when adjusted. If it goes to 2015 then even less.

On a recent visit several Lakota Sioux all said the same thing at the same time: "Watch out for the developers." Middleboro will lose and the Wamps will certainly lose the longer a delay takes place.

Now...what about those room revenues?

Hey Mikey

Mike (AKA LL) I noticed that you have a GK video on the front page and are getting bend out of shape on her latest production. Pay no attention to it as after awhile they become predictable and formulatic. Clever. But, then again, I said the same about Mad Magazine when I was 13 years old. My take is certain bloggers are quite prone to support a lie if it suits their purpose and thus the support by some of the very tarnished and laughable Jessie Powell. I guess when tossing out the lie factor on the pro's reflects a one way street. My contention is when you support a factual lie you become a party to it. But back to the video, LL as I have wandered away. As I said to Hal more than once regarding psychology, and it applies to the vids (mine included - wait - I don't have any), they are for amusement only and not to be taken seriously.

However, LL, the one thing that really stirred it up with me is the attempt to destroy your business. I remember several months ago VV tried the same tactic on the anti casino crowd and I and a few others jumped all over her - not that I'd want to "jump" VV - and right on your site, too. You never edited a thing. Mike, I'll give you your props in that you had many opportunities to go after the businesses of various CFO folks and their spouses and resisted it. I would not have been so kind. We have certainly had our share of differences over "THE ISSUE" but, in my case, you have always been up front with me. I find their efforts to destroy your business unforgivable. Thankfully, it has actually seemed to have had the opposite impact. I have no idea what the motive is except that some, particularly Jessie Powell, seem to be on some type of vendetta against you. Of course with her level of credibility it just makes for further amusement.

I also suspect a certain compliance on the part of elements within CFO on this tactic. Certain CFO members like to toss around the supposed mud tossed their way by the pro's but seems quite content to do exactly the same. I guess when an organization is tattered around the edges and has a record of failure desperate times make for desperate measures. Going after a small limo business classifies it as a big time operation.

Deadwood

Went on a vacation to South Dakota the last week of June and it is a fascinating place. Wonderful trip but I will concentrate on casinos. When I travel I'll visit casinos and actually talk to the locals and the folks who work it them. Been criticized for that approach since I choose not to rely on the dueling data from the pro and anti crowd.

Deadwood was just that at one time - dead. In 1989 the economically depressed "city" needed some major help to the tune of about 60Mil. Now, they had a grand total of 311 residence living in Deadwood at the time and that probably includes the Jackalopes. The historic town was in shambles helped along by two massive forest fires in 1982 and 1987 but the state allowed limited gaming to pay that 60Mil for a rebirth. The timeline was 40 years and it took two. Never underestimate the willingness of folks to gamble.

Today Deadwood has several casinos. All are small and tightly controlled. Slots are everywhere and I got my "fix" at an antique shop and walked away up $15. The casinos are also built to strict architectural standards and are either existing renovations or new construction. The locals both praise and condemn the casinos. Without it the city would be gone but the price wears on the conscience of some. The whole idea of gambling. Crime is of no issue. Nor is traffic. Jobs are OK but nothing special. The poverty rate for the area is still high - Deadwood, Sturgis and Spearfish and several smaller communities. It has created much needed economic runoff. That cannot be denied. Population is around 1,300 and the main source of revenue is tourism, mining and lumber.

Near my hotel in Rapid City were several casinos. I mean several. I finally ventured into one and spoke with the manager. This one was about 1,200 square feet and was comprised of a bar and about a dozen or so video games. That is the standard. They are privately owed and licensed by the state with a 50/50 split. The manager of this one stated the company he works for "owns about 25 of them." Not impressive setup. He said it's "Just a job" and the real money is the tips he gets as a barkeep. No crime issue since these are virtually a mom and pop type of store. No real economic impact except for the money to the state. I noticed several for sale or closed in the RC area. Went to two others and got the same report. The ones I stopped at seemed rather seedy but I did peek at one at the Hotel Alex Johnson that had a better appearance.

At Crazy Horse Memorial I spoke with several Lakota Sioux on Indian Gaming. They were all disappointed in the end results. Felt they were better off with it but not by much. Their take: Watch out for the developers. I got a similar story from a tribal leader at the Wounded Knee Museum. Most successful casino was Rosebud which I did not go to.

The thing to remember about SD and gaming is that this is both a large and small state. Large in area and small in population - about 800,000 - so the gaming halls reflect that in both state sponsored and Indian.

Got It Wrong, Mark

This was sent to me by someone who shall go as just a mystery person.

Bogo and I are still on good terms. I'd reinstate him if he asked so long as he agreed to respect my guidance as moderator. All I want is a happy, harmonious, and productive forum. He was a great poster except for the last couple of months.

Now what Mark says is correct up until the last sentence. For the last few months I was YOUR BEST POSTER since myself and Dal were the only ones to deal with the fact that Jessie Powell lied and you refused to address that issue. Never did except to try and "protect" her from big bad Bogo and Dal who actually spoke the truth, requested honesty, accountability and responsibility. A forum cannot be productive when the BS that JP tossed out goes unaddressed.

Finding Clark

This is what started it all on nemasket.net. Finding Clark. Since I was traveling to South Dakota I found a town named CLARK. Rather interesting place and another poster, Dal, expanded upon it extensively. Will not be able to visit Clark since it is on the other side of the state but there are plenty of places named Clark. Maybe one is the secret location with the 100 ESL teachers? Add any to the list.

The Deflection

On Topix the recent attempt to place the onus on me, Mike and Hal became rather transparent. One pathetic individual - who I do suspect may be a multiple personally individual from a few other sites - but, then again, that is not the issue but the deflection is. On one post my marriage was taken into account. Strange tactic to post I have marital problems. Asked my wife about it and she assured me all was OK. An similar attack was made on my credentials and, again, I responded to what the facts were. Check them out all you wish or anyone wishes. No problem with that. Contact me for dates of degrees and schools and employment record. No big deal. This reminds me of the business attacks and personal attacks that Mike Quish (AKA Limo Loser) had to endure. Same person is posting on his "business failure" and a variety of other things. Deflection. Of course, Hal came in for a few shots as the tactic is so shallow - deflection. A tactic that seems to stink of some of the methods that are linked to bloggers on CFO. Now I am not a died in the wool casino supporter - far from it - but going after a business? A marriage? This is monkeyberry all over again. Do these folks ever learn from their mistakes? Deflection off the main topic of Jessie Powell and CFO and their collective inability to intelligently address that issue. The opening the pro’s were looking for. Remember, it was not me that handed it to you on the golden platter it was Jessie. The pro’s are now enjoying the carrion.

The real issue is Jessie Powell. IMHO probably much of what was posted was probably from her or an ardent hanger on. If I am wrong than accept this apology. Only way to know is when the papers are delivered to Palo Alto. A few must remain. These folks remind me of a virus. Has no life of its own and must live off the life of another. Since it was rather superficial, shallow and without merit it smacks of her style - just peek at her Clark defense - so maybe she has created a whole new writing style that a few have adopted? Deflection, again.

Some have questioned the blogs. This is one. I'd gladly remove it since the only reason it was created is that no other viable outlet existed. Nemasket.net lacked the courage to address the Jessie issue as did the bloggers that are linked to CFO. At this point you could probably call me anti casino or anti deal - I'd accept either - and anti CFO. A view of the CFO site and casino-friend shows the difference. Hate to say it but my "Old Pal Hal" has done a more presentable job. I don't mind getting in the mud with the anti or pro crowd but Hal does. He took the high road and prospers while CFO hung it's collective hat on the low end and has become the source of scorn, laughter and put into the lack of objectivity toilet.

Now....I have to give Hal a call for an appointment for my wife and myself. LMAO!

All By Itself

Somethings just need no words to describe them and this certainly fits into that category. After two months Jessie has an explanation and here it is. Enjoy.

Incidentally, those critics missed my quote of my friend's mis-speak when he meant his friend, Clark in CT. Because of Clark's renown, surely should have immediately identified his prominence. Had those critics done their research, they would have clearly recognized Clark's home town.

Jessie Powell On Research

I took a quick peek at some of Jessie's suggests on Nemasket.net where she posts as MR and Malcolm. As you know Jessie had a bit of a problem location Clark, CT and the usual fall back was to use mapquest.

Try MapQuest, bogo.

This was the repeated action - use mapquest. Jessie is an expert on searches and has told us laggards to do exactly that. I've included three excerpts from her posts. Just three. Many, many more. These three urge one to do the Goggle thing and do your own research.

D'Agostino was widely publicized last year and a google search provides a great deal of information. MR only linked to 2 articles, but there are far more.

Those involved need to do their own research instead of relying on anecdotal nonsense.

The interviews were poorly conducted and weak. The questions were lacking. It seems to me that with a little google search, some more constructive questions for the interview process could have been found.

OK, Jessie? Here is two of your more famous quotes. Care to do the reasearch? Jessie has avoided this repeatedly. Almost as much as the folks in Middleboro have avoided voting for her.

The 3 towns surrounding Foxwoods are teaching + 30 different foreign languages.

Clark, CT went from 2 ESL teachers to 100.

The three towns are - N. Stonington, Preston and Ledyard. Here it is, Jessie, just as you posted it. OK....show me the 30 languages being TAUGHT.

Have you watched the presentation offered by the Plymouth group when they brought the elected officials from Ledyard, N. Stonington and Preston to Plymouth to offer a public forum?

OK, Jessie, you are a liar!

Jessie Powell - two more

Once again the fun and adventures of Jessie Powell - perpetual candidate for Middleboro Selectman - and perpetual loser. I have decided to concentrate on the string of misinformation that Jessie is prone to make. This is an excerpt from a post, since deleted by the site administrator, Nemasket, an individual who will support any behavior as long as they support the casino. Jessie, at least on this site, will post under the title of "MR." She has also posted under the name "Malcolm" and probably a few others. I hate to go public on this stuff but I will. Noramally you could say that nemasket.net is public until you look at the traffic counts.

MR quote:

Montville went from 2 full time police officers to + 22.

That's an easy one. You should have some data on it. Right? Now when you do +22 does that mean that it is virtually unlimited? Maybe a million police? I'll show you how easy....bingo! The link to the police!

http://www.townofmontville.org/CMS/default.asp?CMS_AreaID=138

Here is what they say....wait....I see 21! OMG...Uncle Bernie was fired! Damn! OK, maybe -22 would be better. But did they start out with just two? Call the mayor. Nice guy. Big HST fan. Maybe it was two? Wouldn't it be nice to actually almost have something right for a change? So far I have heard (surprise) nothing from Jessie.

The Montville Police Department is proud to serve the Town of Montville with a full complement of 21 professional, highly trained and dedicated police officers. Our local force is committed to providing prompt and courteous law enforcement services, and working diligently to maintain a positive and effective presence within our community

Oh...why stop there. Jessie is an expert at everything.

A non-English speaking child costs twice as much to educate.

As you can see Jessie is an expert on school costs. I have asked her to attempt to at least make some type of link to verify this information? As with many other posts Jessie has managed to slink into the background.

Jessie Powell - Confirmed Liar

Jessie Powell - noted political gadfly in Middleboro is well know for her ability to toss out facts. Trouble is some just do not compute. Her latest foray into the land of make believe is on the Nemasket.net web site. Jessie has been challenged by me to provide proof for various statements she has made. I will concentrate on just one - for now.

The 3 towns surrounding Foxwoods are teaching + 30 different foreign languages. Clark, CT went from 2 ESL teachers to 100.

I have been trying to get confirmation on this tidbit for almost a month but the elusive Jessie continues to avoid the issue....and avoid...and avoid. No source. No nothing.Jessie has quite an established track record within her own blog of calling out folks and pointing out their frailties. I guess this is a turn in the other direction? I don't know exactly how to get an answer to the above quote from Ms. Mis-Information. I've publicly called her a liar. I've offered a reward of $500 which another poster matched. Oh...she'll try to deflect and turn the tables but the reality is that she is trapped. Clark does not exist. The 2 to 100 ESL teachers do not exist. I am still waiting for the +30 languages being TAUGHT in the three towns she mentioned - Ledyard, Preston and N. Stonington The good thing is she is not in public office nor will she ever hold office. Jessie at this point has scorched more earth and people than Sherman on his march to the sea.

Now some anti casino folks may excuse anything but this is a bit too far. Personally I am more anti than pro, but will not tolerate someone who does not have the personal courage to take ownership for a series of inaccuracies. Accountability and responsibility. Those who voted against Jessie were 100% correct. I had voted for Jessie in recall so what can I say? My bad? Some learn by their mistakes and I have. Jessie has not.

I may, in the future, entertain you with some of the various postings that have gone on at Nemasket.net between myself and Jessie.
