OPEN POSTS WEEK FOURTEEN

The casinos that I paid a visit to in Oklahoma were rather small and certainly did not have the extensive amenities one would associate with what a potential gin mill in Middleboro would have. Both casinos were in the Lawton area and were Indian gaming - Camanche and Apache - and have had little economic or social impact on the area. I would attribute that to their size and the fact that this is the location of Ft. Sill and has a transient population. I spoke to a few employees and they felt pay was what you would get for similar service jobs in the area. Neither would be a good comparison for Middleboro.

I would see in Oklahoma these "farms" with folks living in trailers and a few oil wells pumping away in the front yard. Why? The key is mineral rights. The land is sold but you can retain the mineral rights forever as it will just pass on from title to title. I spoke with one person who said his 87 year old mother still receives a check of about a $1,000 a month from a property she sold 50 years ago. Not unusual for rights to go back over 100 years and been some nasty court fights over wills that have not specified mineral rights. Much of the reason is that new pumping techniques...new being within the last 50 years - have made wells considered dry or unprofitable just the opposite. No problem with that here unless MB has the mineral rights to Indian Rock.

Disappointing and frustrating to see what the army managed to do with our son - disappointing and frustrating in the fact they did in 72 days what we could not do in 21 years. Then...maybe we just created a nice foundation and they built upon it. he graduation ceremony was different from any you will see as another son attended. He will retire from the army in a few months after 24 years and the usual resume of a career soldier - Korea (twice), Panama, Iraq, Gulf War I, Germany (twice) and a few other places. He pointed out that unlike high school or college some of the 240 from this graduating class will be dead in a year or so. For many new soldiers this represented an escape from a bad economy, a bad life and a poor education. Those 72 days are as expensive as four years at an Ivy League school.

The economy is now on a faster track for self destruction with extensive federal debt added by President WOW and the fact that bad paper is still a nightmare. My personal suggestion is to have zero capital gains on anyone with an income under 100K. Need some extensive changes to tax code to address the huge losses in retirement funds. Doubt that will be done since too many of those folks have played within the rules.

On a connecting flight to Dallas earlier this week I had to go into LGA to make the connect. Flight arrived late and the poorly designed system forced you to go through security a second time. I mentioned to three TSA agents that my flight had started boarding fifteen minutes ago but got nowhere. Would not let me go through on a priority. Great customer service. End result is we missed our flight and a complaint to supervisors got nowhere. What TSA represents is the governments answer to a mall cop. The lack any comprehension of common sense, service and common civility. IMO they could not catch an elephant in a telephone booth. I have witnessed enough over the years to make me feel this is tossing money away.

Returning home in a few days and it has appeared not much has happened.

Post away.

Stoneforge?

I'll see if the Raynham Police Chief would be interested in attending.

If anyone knows about internet stuff it would be him.

Dog you should have no problem with that.

Monkey--

Sorry to see you have a problem with echolalia.

Meet with Hal and Bogo, two icons of impartiality? Nothing personally against them, but I want YOU to see the documents my lawyer holds. And I want him to see for himself how off the wall you get when you feel cornered and lose your temper. And trust me, you will lose it.

Have a great weekend. I've got things to do and have no need to continually repeat myself.

Monkey down and a shark and dog to go. LOL!

Bogo is probably as impartial as you will get. He plays it as he sees it and has managed to piss off both sides at one time or another. More lawyer crap. Now Dog sounds like the demented VV.

Dog appears reluctant to be involved in any face to face. Seems Monkey is willing and maybe Shark will be. As far as impartial I consider myself just that and certainly more so than anyone else with a blog or site involved in the casino issue. I really have no agenda regarding the gin mill.

Too much lawyer talk. VV where are you?

Oh well, continue to post and do the he said she said.

A partial quote from Yahoo Finance on Warren Buffett and Berkshire.

"Berkshire's Class A shares remain the most expensive U.S. stock, but they have declined 48 percent since setting a high of $151,650 in December 2007. That came after an exceptionally profitable quarter that was helped by a $2 billion investment gain.

The S&P 500 fell 37 percent in 2008.

On Friday, Berkshire's Class A stock gained $250 to close at $78,600 on the eve of the release of Buffett's letter. But earlier this week, the stock set a new five-year low at $73,500 as investors anticipated bad news in the report."

Monkey-

Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia describing some of the causes of echolalia. It isn't only associated with autism:

"Echolalia is the repetition of vocalizations made by another person. Echolalia can be present in autism, Tourette syndrome, aphasia, Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, developmental disability, schizophrenia, Asperger syndrome, Alzheimer's Disease and, occasionally, other forms of psychopathology."

I may be an SOB, but I don't make fun of disabled kids.

Stoneforge? Not exactly a place where we can yell and scream like a-holes in. Find a ring where we can go at it gloves off. Just bear in mind that although you're a former Marine and we're about equal in size, you have 15 years on me, grandpa. I'll give you two months to get yourself back in shape. Maybe Bogo will treat you to a Y membership. On 2nd thought, he's a self-admitted cheapskate. How's 4/25/09 sound to you, Raging Bull? We could sell tickets and donate proceeds to the charity of the winner's choice.

Place of event will be your call. So, are you game?

P.S

And I still got the number 1 website for search terms "Middleboro Casino" Two years running.

Get this with no computer experience at all. LMAO! Just think if I was good.

From where I sit, you've accomplished 2 admirable things in your life: you won a battle with substance abuse, and you appear to be a devoted father.

But holding others off with a stick? You flatter yourself. Didn't your Mom ever teach you that "self praise stinks"?

So what? Not bringing in any business is it? Shame, I heard you offered a 1st rate service before the economy went sour.

I'm sure the name monkeysharkdog.blogspot.com is available, so one of you could start a free Blogger blog and share the login password so you could really have a go at each other complete with pictures and videos and large colored fonts.

Dog and Limo in the ring! LOL! Two tubs of goo. Get RY and MB to join you and put on those sumo suits they use only none of you will need them. Make it a charity event and the winner gets a penny a pound for his favorite charity - some charity will end up with six figures. LOL! What will it be? Ten second rounds with five minutes between each? You two guys will end up vomiting over each other. Have Adam referee and you can both belly flop him. The Quish Squish! Even I would pony up a few bucks for this - just a few, mind you. Maybe Hal and I can team up and take you guys on in a death match? Wait...Hal and I work out so all we'll do is run around you two for 30 seconds and then call the paramedics to bring over two defibulators. Two guys in their mid 60s trying to give mouth to mouth to two youngins' Just a vision of that has ruined my appetite.

Just when I think I can reach a new low I go even lower. The Limbo Blogger!

Hal Brown said...

The Quish Squish, that alone deserves a nomination for a 2009 Webby Award for best rhyming phrase.

The mental images in that post are enough to put me off the rosemary roasted potatoes and Italian chicken my wife is cooking for dinner.

Hal Brown said...

If the NFOH's searched my name and Middleboro looking for dirt on me I suspect that while they found hundreds of pages they were rather disappointed that the worst they discovered was my being a thorn in the side of the old management of Ocean Spray.

That and being something of a media hog.

Paul Harvey died. We may never get the rest of the story.

Hal-

Googling is not the best way to find out dirt about locals. This is a small town and people have big mouths. You tell just one person about things you want to keep under wraps, and within minutes they're on the phone telling everyone they know.

Even worse is to print something publicly on a blog, realize your words were ill considered, then try to delete them. If a post has been up for even 15 minutes, someone's got it word for word, and has emailed it on. That's a guarantee.

Thank you, anon 1:23 for finding that info. In light of that I will obviously change my pseudonymn to something less incendiary and more original, say "anonymous". Racism, displayed either privately or publicly, is unacceptable. Obviously, Duane Chapman, aka "Dog" has fallen from grace in my eyes.

bogofree said...

Hal will find out the rest of the story, Rocky. Knowing Hal I'd suggest flame retardant clothing.

Making ill thought out and just plain stupid posts is not a rare item indeed - not that I would know anything about that. What is key is the body of the work. Is there a consistent pattern of inflammatory posts? Occasional? Is it your interpretation? You get the idea. Dog previously covered the issue of Chapman and has gone through - as he stated - rehab.
