A Posting Spring Training

Full body scanners at Fortress Logan. Great. I can see me being held up in the scanner while the female TSA agents crowd around the screen and point and laugh.

Why doesn’t Middleboro have any hack holidays? Maybe the BOS can inaugurate one in honor of “Billy Fallon’s” great legal victory?

1001 Ways to Die is about as perverse as a TV show can get - yet I actually enjoy it. My wife - The Lovely Cynthia - thinks it is total trash but will often be mesmerized by some of the stories.

Spring training has begun and now the various reporters will file endless fluff pieces to justify their two weeks or so “vacation.”

My own spring training is to hone my rapier like wit, sharpen my harpoon and get a refill on my how to be obnoxious pills.

Local election is coming up in about a month and the interest level seems nil. Although some political signs has appeared on lawns.

Short term performance (less than a year) will soon be off the charts for stocks and mutual funds. Always check the three to five year performance.

Bank of America honcho Brian Moynihan is praising Barney Frank (D- YouTube) for his leadership in the financial crisis and “recovery.” Just another reason to bank local.

I am quickly starting to subscribe to the notion that optimism decreases and cynicism increases with age.

The IRS has always been to be the perfect example of an excessive and vindictive government agency but their online resources are excellent. Tax question inquiries are answered within a few days with many references given and the site is fairly easy to navigate.

The RMV has instituted a $5 fee for any personalized service. More of the same nickel and dime tactics that are so symptomatic of this state. Governor “One And Out” just doesn’t get it. At least they canned it but they just don’t get it.

“Billy Flynn” finally updated his online resume.

No Saturday mail delivery? I’d go for a Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday every other day schedule.

I love the irony that exists with Sal DiMasi being a “hero” of anti’s over his anti gaming stance and a portion of that is based in the ever present corruption that is associated with gambling. And Sal turns out to be a crook!

Barking dog surgery bans is on the legislative schedule. I wonder if Adam’s clients are involved?

Central Falls, R.I. Is a community that has a multitude of problems that run the usual gamut from excessive poverty to high unemployment. The one significant place where a change can be initiated is the school system. That has not happened. Drastic steps have been taken and the various teachers unions better get use to it - this will be the ultimate accountability.

Spring Training is a great sign that Winter is on the way out. I can't wait for the season to begin. I always spend Patriot's Day having a Pastrami Sandwich while watching the 11:00am Game and the Boston Marathon afterwards.

I forgot to mention that I watch the events from my reserved seat at the Eire Pub.

Just got tickets today for the KC/Boston series in KC. Great seats. Be a bunch of Sox fans going to that one as we do every year. Can upgrade to Diamond Club. Already got tickets that I'll need for Denver and SF for that road trip.

Bogo your idiot comment of the day/week/month takes the prize for the year. You did not cite the source. I cannot imagine why in the Clark a person would make such a comment.

It expresses a horrid level of insensitivity to existing employment and the ability for people to feed their families in the midst of a deep recession.

The person in question will appear in a few weeks at the Flat Iron.

This is where Bogo ended up Saturday for the opening of the newParamounttheater in Boston.

The restoration job was magnificent and brought back memories of when I use to see movies at the theater in the late 50s before it fell into disrepair. Right across the street was Raymond's - "Where You Bought The Hat" and a bit further down was the adult entertainment section including Izzy Ort's - The Sailors Friend. Not that I would know anything about that.

I am once again confused. I thought BB was like you and "had a price" for a casino. Why would he want an existing Connecticut casino to go out of business and the good people of Clark CT to lose their jobs?

The statement seems a dichotomous thought process. Give him the benefit of the doubt. It was probably just one of his famous Biden like gaffes.

Probably if Foxwoods goes belly up they'll be more business for Massachusetts.

Now that's a positive spin!

Lot's of damage control going on with the anti's now that the highway is clear and full throttle to slots and resort casinos.

Belanger seems a bit confused on this whole issue so maybe Bogo can give him some fence sitting instructions. Mark may or may not be against a gambling depending on what side of the bed he wakes up on.

BB can be bought for the right price. He's obviously more of a NIMBY than a true anti. Kind of morphed with time, especially since he and RY befriended AB. I suspect there's been a division between them and the hardcore USS slots, who are fighting a losing battle to keep gaming totally out of Massachusetts. Time and economic temp has changed since the last legislative vote, though I doubt the state will be working on behalf of the Indians. I expect the racinos will be up and running within months.....sans the racing. I agree that the antis have exaggerated the collateral damage and the pros have underestimated it. Bottom line is that the state needs the revenue and jobs. Regardless Deval is out in November as the DiMasi trial will put the final nails in his political coffin.

The culture wars are heating up because of curriculum changes geared to Texas textbook revisions. Sanitizing history by getting rid of references to the Liberty Bell and Neil Armstrong? Battles fought in WWI and WWII and the Civil Rights movement? Since Texas is the biggest buyer of textbooks in the nation, all history will be taught according to Lone Star state standards. All this distorted revisionism will give kids a skewed view of our national past. Outrageous!

USS Slots borders on the bizarre and so true about how hard core they are. I imagine they are attempting to put some type of spin on what is fast becoming a sinking USS Slots that is being torpedoed by the legislature. I think RY has smartly moved on from this crew and CFO as so many others have.

Pacheco summed it up fairly well tonight with his appearance before the BoS when he spoke of jobs and more jobs. He then tossed out potential revenue of upwards to one billion. Surprise was potential slots at Logan Airport. Smart idea. Planes get held up then we can hold up the tourists.

Jessie

I just saw a DPW truck at Cumberland Farms. Two man crew getting a coffee and some lottery tickets. Wish I had my camera so you could start a campaign.

Is there a legislative bonus for speaking as much as possible at a BOS meeting? Marc Pacheco just droned on and on and on. He could and should have made his statement in five minutes. Found his Fortress Logan comment interesting. Might as well strip those in the terminals clean to the bone. I can see some pathetic loser trying to pawn off his ticket for another run at the slots. FYI for Marc P. There are four terminals and not five.

I think the USS Slots or whatever group will soon be like those Japanese soldiers they use to find on some deserted Pacific island in the 50s thinking the war was still going on. They'll be slots all over the Clarking state and they'll still be in denial.

Maybe they will eventually find several anti's hiding in the basement of a resort casino?

The override presentation appeared to be a managed news event right out of the Obama playbook. I was leaning towards a favorable vote but after that dog and pony show with virtually nothing but administrators I now am against any override since I have serious doubts about the validity of their scenario. Taking the questions before hand and spending most of the evening on that? Shameful.

bogofree said...

I read the account in the Enterprise of the override meeting and as far as written questions that was understood a few weeks ago. There was also going to be an open question period and I assume that happened. The game plan was announced prior to the meeting so I may take issue with the format but not with the method since it was eyes wide open to any who were following it.

I read that no teachers were there. Don't know if that is accurate since I can't imagine a presence since this is a number one issue - jobs. Did the union have any representation? Was there some spoken or unspoken agreement not to have teachers there? Were there any teachers from outside the system present? I read that it was a table of administrators. I would have loved to see a few teachers give a few minutes to explain how they feel expanded classroom size will impact on their service delivery and classroom management.

Nancy Pelosi's most incredibly stupid quote: "We have to pass the bill so we can find out what's in it." Yes, she actually did say that.

Anon thank you for ruining my day my the mere mention of HER name. This is an example of what moonbats support. Give me Newt anyday and I couldn't stand him.

Anybody catch the rant by Patches Kennedy?

So sad for Joan that Patches is one of her guardians. Someone needs to appoint that whack job one.

Teddy drove Joan over the edge and Patches will finish the job.

A bill was passed to address obesity in public schools. I saw who in the area voted yes and am amazed that many do not translate this new found spirit into their own personal lives.
