OPEN POSTS WEEK TWENTY-NINE

An interesting week in Northern California for me in the Sacramento area. This state is in a worse fiscal mess than Massachusetts so that is something to feel good about in a bizarre kind of way. Sacramento has an interesting Old Town section that runs along the river front. Like similar projects in other cities it is a renovation and restoration of a former area of warehouse, saloons and low end rooming houses. All gentrified with high end condos, museums and the usually mix of shops from eclectic to those with tourist trinkets and high end specialty shops.

The purpose of the visit was a wedding and since it was family - my son - so everything was hectic with folks flying in from all over the country. Rehearsals, dinners, get together and finally a wedding on Friday made for a busy few days and now is a more relaxed tome to sightsee.

This area is honeycombed with casinos and we also took a day trip to Virginia City, Nevada and Carson City, Nevada. Virginia City is a quick walk around after a harrowing drive along Route 341 after a two hours drive through the mountains from Sacramento to Reno.

Many of the folks that attended the wedding are from this area and to them they now have casino overload as expansion has diluted the market. There is little in the way of the environmental issues that confront a Middleboro gin mill since the casinos are generally in remote areas on tribal lands and are not the glitzy monstrosities so prevalent or proposed in our area. The economic impact is relatively nil since this state is population rich.

I have not heard much on the Green School initiative so maybe Suo will have an update this week. I’ll keep it as a partial banner for another week.

Bogo. Howie Carr's piece this morning on "tracking the not-so-elusive hackasaurus greedicus of Massachusetts" is an absolute must read. Very funny, but on target.

I will have to look at it online as I'm still out west. I have folks all over the country with Massachusetts roots that now read his column.

****BB's "Sillinois"***

BB says he is confised why Illinois is having "budget problems when they already have 9 casinos."

I made a post that he has yet to publish. The reasons are simple and have nothing to do with casinos.

*Illinois is the most (or second most) corrupt state in The Union.

*When does government ever have enough of OPM (Other Peoples Money)?

Money is a drug. No matter how much a state, town, country or millionaire has, it never seems enough.

There are several exceptions to this rule. The late Paul Newman comes to mind.

Why didn't the state raise the income tax? Raising the sales tax is going to kill those of us on fixed incomes or the poor.

They probably will raise the income tax. Our pensions and Social Security are exempt - for now.

I see no correlation between casinos and the floundering fiscal status of states. It is just another way to raise revenues. The only thing of concern is the money recieved and not parallel issues.

I blew through $25 in about 10 minutes on $1 and twenty-five cent slots while in Virginia City. Difference is I had my limit and could stop. A number of folks do not.

***BB The "King of Gavel"****

Posting on your blog is a waste of time. You only post things you agree with. That is what you use to complain about -- right?

BB you are way to similar to communists. All words are ok, if they are yours or follow your party line. Otherwise BANG BANG your gavel of silence is smashed. You did the same thing with the CPA publicly that you do with your blog, no dialogue you dislike allowed.

Sorry that none of my posts (not published by you) failed to have have illicit references to men with sheep or refer to an 86 year old woman's anus -- things you seem to find publicly acceptable. BTW know any private property I can go mountain on biking in search of really cool turkey feathers?

I am not going to discuss the ladder truck process because it was discussed ad nauseam (as I mentioned). If you -- or selectman -- want to learn that process call the people that were involved in all the unattended public meetings. You could also reference town meeting when it was voted.

I would never debate you on casino issues. In fact I would call you (or others) for information if I was going to shoot off my mouth. You should try the same.

So much more interesting to read Suo now that we know who he really is. Did the "Save the Green School" go south making the brief alliance with BB no longer necessary? Whatever's politically expedient I guess. Whew! For a day or two I thought your absense was going to make bogo a has been.

I think Suo forced BB into actually making a hard choice to publish comments by someone who contributed mightily to the demise of CPA. Give BB he did do that. Grudgingly I imagine.

Now we have a follow up and Suo seems on target again. I guess Suo fails to realize what a privilege it was to have a few of his comments posted on the self proclaimed greatest blog in Mboro. But Suo has mellowed a wee bit as he only highlighted a smidgeon of the inconsistencies.

I look on Suo and Bogo in conspiratorial terms. If you follow their postings the last few months they seem to set BB up. He gets trapped in his own previous comments and Bogo did this along with Dal - who is obviously Suo - on the Nemasket board. What they did to JP was classic. Deflating a wind bag is a public service.

I check in at the Nemasket board but do not post. The vast majority of them just pat each other on the back. Think anyone wants to post on that site? Forget it.

Where are you Bogo? When are you going to return?

I think Bogo is on vacation in Clark, Ct.

The Green School process is alive and well. We have been getting quotes. We have determined it has a degree of viability and public support. Before we proceed any further we want to make sure it can be attained reasonably. Once that has been accopmplished we will be seeking more pledges.

More to come in the next week or so.

In Middleboro we have dog complaints. In Miami, a crowing rooster complaint. Mr. Clucky, a local tourist attraction who rides around the city on the handlebars of his owner's bike and is trained and tamed, is being banned for ONE crowing complaint. LMCAO

Fox News:

72 year old grandmother tasered to ground screaming in pain by cop for minor motor vehicle violation. Now there's a lawsuit in the works.

I was shunned from the clark.net forum -- damn, meant to say nemasket.net without even a warning. I went to log on one day and could not.

I am still trying to emotionally overcome being gaveled off the island by the king.

I feel your pain, Suo, as I was dismissed when I discovered my mod functions had been vaporized and soon I followed. Can't diss a fellow poster was the reason despite the total lock that said poster was a confirmed liar. So much for blogging integrity.

Back home after a semi enjoyable trip.

US News & World Report: Best places to live in Massachusetts

Not sure who researched this, but I would take Middleborough over many of the towns.

This ridiculous story was reported continuously yesterday on CNN and FoxNews:

The Obama administration has proposed placing a $175/yr. tax on every cow and steer in this country, which will amount to billions of $$$. Why? Because they believe that cow "farting" is contributing to 30% of the yearly global warming effect. Of course they can't do a thing to stop cows from passing methane fumes, so I'm not sure what the tax will accomplish except to raise the cost of beef at the supermarket.

bogofree said...

They should tax that gas bag Barney Frank.

I'm sure the nutrition police in the current administration would like nothing better than to have the lot of us eat "healthy." Probably have tofu burgers replace beef.

LOL!!! I wonder how fast human flatulence is melting the polar ice caps. Before you know it we'll be mandated to install fart meters in our homes and fined if we openly pass more than 2.3 farts per person per day. Or they could require us to insert disposable colon fart collectors to be collected and converted to Methane in the form of compressed natural gas to run our vehicles. If you ask me, Obama has a huge gas bubble between his ears. LMCAO

I'm sure JP will post on this wonderful measure as a green inititive. LMCAO! This is what happens when a moonbat somewhere is allowed too much freedom in politice.

mildly said...

To prepare for the inevitable, throw a dollar in your piggy bank everytime you pass gas. Moonbat extremism is the driving force behind the EPA's war on farts. This is for real guys. So much for broccoli, cabbage, and green salads.

bogofree said...

I wonder how this will be monitored? I mean for humans since some will have excessive gas and some will not. Why should I have to pay if I fart less? Will the government supply Beano coupons?

San Francisco has initiated new recycle laws. Quite stringent with substantial fines. Toughest in the nation.

On the surface I like the idea but the downside is this represents a foot in the door for stringent expansion of laws into other areas by assorted "do gooders." Next thing you know they'll be taxing farts.

Suo Mynona said...

The desire to recycle will be dictated by economics eventually. The per ton cost of trash disposal will become increasingly high and will provide monetary incentive to recycle as much as possible.

What is going on? No material for me at the blogs and nemasket has no action. I usually count on something stupid being posted by that crew at least once a week. I may be forced to go to toxic. LMCAO!

bogofree said...

Ah...I feel your pain, FG. Nothing much doing as even the BOS is in summer mode.

I check the blogs daily and even took a peek at Toxic and nothing of interest has surfaced.

The enjoyment for me has been watching the yankees and their fans slither away after three straight losses.
