OPEN POSTS WEEK NINE

The first part will be a be kind to MR section. Now for those of you who have managed to get this far after reading the first sentence I will explain or else everyone from Mildly to Rocky will be writing an anti Bogo blog or having me take a nice observational vacation at Pembroke Hospital. Two points on MR.

MR had a post a few weeks ago that took to task - somewhat - her exclusion from the Green Committee. Appears it was just an oversight (maybe) and explanations were given. From what I could fathom it all came down to available slots. Just open up another slot. Simple solution. Is there any limit to the number of committee members? If so it can be tweaked.

Point two is her opposition to the anti Cape Wind faction. I know there is a mountain of facts being tossed around from both sides but I’d like to see in built. If a Kennedy is against it must be a good idea. There are certainly posters more versed in this issue on or who read this site.

A very bad week for CPA since, IMO, the posts critical of the BOS for present and past sins and the negativity towards former dinosaurs only isolated the CPA further from those whose blessing would be nice. Frustrating that some could not temper their criticism to the CPA and not to the laundry list of the same old regarding the BOS. As far as I know the CPA is still going forward.

Some of the humor expressed this week was quite enjoyable. Always a bright spot to sit down and read a thesaurus post or a thou shall.

The economy continues to slide or tumble or just plain collapse. The banking situation will deteriorate even further as the bad paper figure could well be 50 Trillion dollars. I got killed on CitiGroup ( C ) stock expecting a bump up.

The plane crash or semi controlled landing was the big news story last week. Any landing is a good landing. My wife and I originally moved to Middleboro for two reasons: The housing was cheap and the airport we flew out of was located here. When we married I had a plane - a Piper Tri-Pacer (AKA - The Flying Brick) that we soon sold as it was a very expensive toy. I had a Citabria before I met my wife since I was interested in aerobatic flying and that was the plane of choice for some but I lost interest in it. My wife took up flying after we met and she has quite a collection of certifications - Commercial, Instrument, Multi-Engine, Ground Instructor and a few others. I never had her level of interest and my pitiful eyes limited me to just a basic single engine fixed wing. Have some great flying stories especially about the airport with "A hill for the runway" right here in North Middleboro. Been many years since either of us have flown but she did name our oldest, Jonathan, after Jonathan Livingston Seagull and hoped her interests would be passed down. Currently he is flying for Sky West Airlines and has been for over a year flying CRJ200s, 700s and 900s out of Milwaukee. Quite a commute Massachusetts to Wisconsin but most pilots do that. He just got back from Salt Lake City after a few days of updated sim instruction for everything they can throw at you. Hopefully, he will not fall victim to the economy as so many other commercial pilots have.

Now comes the Obama coronation and I am the ultimate pessimist on this. Never have I hoped I am so wrong as with this.

BB and MR still have some issues to address. They have made several assertions that they have left unanswered. Clark of course is one of them, but most recently is the claim by JP that the amount of land tied up from commercial or residential development is unsubstantiated. The second, by MB is that people do not want to have any discussion on the CPA. MB even said there would be more video to come (which should not be cherry picked statements). I suspect both of these will fall into the myriad of other accusations and assertions made and left with no response.

It is logical to assume that if either of them could back up those words it would have been done. It is easy to make a claim and leave it hanging out there. It is another to prove the statements. It would also be interesting to know how a "miniscule" amount of money is defined.

Since neither saw fit to link to the articles covered by the local papers, the appropriate links are provide below.

I'm sure a number of posters on this site will continue to have a cyber call-out on just what you have posted.

I am really curious on the land issue as there appears to be a lot of open space that is protected. The major areas that come to mind for me are Rocky Gutter, Pratt Farm, Weston, Town Forest off Tispiquin, Washburn Conservation Area, Meetinghouse, Purchade Brook, Black Brook off Perry Street and I am not sure about areas on Marion Road next to the lakes. There are also other areas that I run in that I'm just not sure about such as Wamquinaguoh Rod & Gun Club (hope I have the spelling) and The Great and Little Cedar Swamps of which much is undeveloped. There is also the areas along the Taunton and Nemasket Rivers and how does that play into the figures since some is now WMA.? Lincoln Andrews mentioned, I believe, 10% or seven square miles since Middleboro is a shade under seventy square miles. Is there an exact way of determining how much? Is there a list? Is it just town land we are talking about? The area of the Nichols School and Barden Hill. Is that considered open space? I run through that area all the time.

Now I remember that there is 640 acres to a square mile and I thought that Rocky Gutter is several thousand by itself and the number that comes from the depths of my memory banks is a shade under or over 3,000. That is almost five square miles. I know that Black Brook and Meetinghouse and a combined 500+ acres. I know that Taunton River WMA is almost 175 acres and I thought Pratt Farm is 190 acres so there is over another square mile. I’ve gone through Purchade Brook area and that has to be close to a square mile. Again, not sure what is classified as open space? Is it just Middleboro town land or all land under WMA? I assume it is all protected land regardless of under which blanket it may fall. Maybe someone can “educate” us?

I am very cautious of figures that are tossed out especially by those in the past that have not been able to substantiate their "facts."

A weeks 'vacation' at Pembroke could be a more enjoyable week for you than you think. A close friend of mine is a psychiatric social worker there who also happens to be a very accomplished belly dancer. Very beautiful and exotic. Watching her undulations could be an interesting form of therapy for you. Trust me, the last thing on your mind will be politics.

Looks like a nice detailed list of figures regarding open space. I would suspect LA was correct.

A retraction? LOL!

Appears Steve Graham is up to his eyeballs in this mess.

bogofree said...

When money flows from questionable sources you can never rule out anything and even MiMi Duphily brought that up. As far as the IGA IMO AB is on the right path and that is to review everything. Charisma is one thing and being a crook is another. The idea was that many folks trusted everyone involved in the IGA deal making and relied on that for the 67% vote supporting it.

Now with these "hints" I hope I don't get legal threats from VV. LOL!

drive-by said...

It would give me no pleasure to learn that anyone local becomes implicated in this legal quagmire. However, I would agree that it is prudent to re-examine the IGA and hope that a better deal can be struck with the new leadership of the tribe. It just makes good business sense.

As for MR, involvement in the Green Committee would put her knowledge of those issues to productive use, alleviate some of her frustration, and perhaps turn her attention away from the performance of others. She is obviously an intelligent woman and I see her appointment as a good move overall.

The tendency in this war of words has been for both sides to paint opponents as one dimensional. Truth is there is much more to each of us.

drive-by said...

I read on Topix ahile back that MR is a home caregiver for mentally retarded DSS kids. The criticism leveled at her was that she recieved compensation for such services. Well, I happen to know that the amount given is far from compensatory for the 24/7 level of commitment required. I applaud anyone willing to open their home to allow the mentally retarded an opportunity for inclusion in the community. It takes patience, consistency, and significant time involvement, and a significant loss of privacy on the part of the caregiver. Although I don't appreciate MR writes about individuals, I do give her points for giving of herself in that manner.

Now bogo, I'm sure you are aware by now that the caricature known as VegasVal is all bluster and barvado and no action. The missives between you two last year were quite funny, especially the way you always managed to turn her words around on her. Sue, Sue, & Sue??? LMAO

skeptical not cynical said...

Speaking of VV, I doubt we'll ever learn her true identity. But it's fun to guess. I suspect that some day when "The Myths and Legends of Middleborough" is written, Vegas Val will be a featured figure. She's such an amusing piece of work. Wouldn't it be fun if she came on board here? Of course, she would NEVER use sockpuppetry and post as "anonymous". LOL

So I didn't get my morning coffee and couldn't read online news until about 10 am. Totally f**ked up my day.

And the beat goes on and on with the anti bloggers regarding potential payoffs in our very own town! Naturally everyone is suspect and Jack Healey seems to be of considerable concern on comments. Mimi Duphily even said you cannot dismiss it.

Bogo in the past you made several border line comments on this and VV really went after you as did a few others. I wonder what VV thinks of the recent fall of the tribe and the IGA at this point? AB wants a review of it and AB is a VV hero.

The Enterprise article today clearly shows a great divide developing on the BOS over a review of the IGA. I want a casino and I strongly supported the IGA and now support a review of the process. Mimi should focus on her duties to the town as should the others and not be concerned with the tribe.

Suo Mynona said...

I would urge everyone to show extreme restraint and not get caught up in the gossip about locals who may or may not be (would have or have not been) on the shady side. Peoples' lives, integrity and reputations are at stake. Rumor mongering on this magnitude is misguided IMO. Time will run its course.

let BB and the gang make the suggestive comments. They do more than enough for the whole town.

Debating the deal and whether or or not to try and renegotiate is a horse of a different color.

mildly said...

VV has remained virtually silent since the news broke. I suspect though that as an avid devotee of AB, she will support whatever stance he takes in dealing with the tribe. As far as I know, she has never bucked AB on anything.

I would agree with you that Mimi needs to put aside any personal feelings she has about the tribe and make the best interests of Middleboro her first priority. I would think that would be her obligation as a Selectwoman of our town.

RE: local people-

Presume innocense unless it's proven otherwise. Even the suggestion of impropriety can blemish a person's good name. I say let this all play out on its own which eventually will happen. Why chance hurting innocent people through innuendo? Hasn't there been enough verbal carnage over the last two years?

bogofree said...

My take on Jack is nothing new as I posted about it on the old CFO site and also on one of the incarnations of Mike's site. Prepare for a one paragraph boring rehash.

The whole issue was negotiated in semi secret and Jack wanted to give the town his own farewell present and assumed this would be a big financial plum for the town. A surprise. Of course, when you deal with the pinky ring crew you are at a significant disadvantage. Out of his league? Maybe? Tip O’Neil gave Massachusetts the Big Dig as his farewell gift to the unions and local pols. Maybe in Jack’s eyes the casino would generate the windfall that was being put forth? Get all those slight of financial hands balancing of the books just a distant memory. Restore some cuts. Get a hefty rainy day fund. Don’t know since he has never really spoken up in great detail on it.

Mimi somewhat opened the gates on innuendo with her statement in the Enterprise today about potential graft. She is right. Never say never. The specter will always be with us even if nothing is there. After all some think Elvis is alive and Clark, Ct. is a real town so the rumors and gossip will continue.

LA was 100% correct based on the figures I and another poster have posted and others are following up with. What is also interesting is that there is extensive amounts of land surrounding Rocky Gutter that is also open space. Same with many of the other places mentioned such as Weston, Black Brook, Purchade, Pratt and the rest of them. Bottom line: MR was dead wrong. I suspect she will post as such on her bog. I check daily and will post it her when it happens - have to go to the hospital ER since my tongue is now stuck in my cheek.

Rocky you may have a point on MR regarding being on a committee in regards to using cyber space as a debating tool for her views within the process. Would not know unless given the chance and I'm all for giving the chance. IMO I feel she would resist the temptation. Now I may have to go to the ER again to have my head removed from my…..

The BOS will now be like the WWE having a steel cage match. Mimi "hints" or is at less saying "corruption" cannot be dismissed. AB appears to be quite interested in sending the IGA to a deep six and has no qualms about his public critique of his fellow BOS members. Entertaining theater.

I did not vote for him as the bailout bill did it for me. I will not vote in national and state elections. I will pick up my ballot and submit it as blank. The corruption and the bailout has shown me at this is all about them and not us. A true racial equity will be reached in that the next four years will show us a rich and connected Black guy will be just as capable of screwing things up as a rich and connected White guy. Now the next one up can be a woman to show that gender is also not a roadblock to incompetence. Hope I am wrong on my negativity and pessimism.

The hype is way too much for me. I'm a cynic to the nth degree on each and every one of them. The media has been fawning over Obama since day one and so far all I have seen is an extension of what has already failed. Heck, Bush already started the socialist ball rolling so not much left for Obama. Another trillion or so pissed away on bad behavior. A son that will end up in an intensified war in Afghanistan. Unemployment that will soon be double digits. Middle East is it’s usual wreck. A national health care policy that will be exhibit #1 on why the government should mandate but not manage.

The first two years can always be blame Bush just as Patrick managed to survive a year by blaming Republicans. Then the reality sets in and you are faced with a mountain of problems and no way of dealing with them since you are stepping on political toes. I see no HST or Reagan with Obama. Again, hope I’m wrong but count me out of this parade until I see the goods being delivered. Call me Mr. Negativity.

Evidently Ted Kennedy suffered a grand mal seizure while attending an inaugural luncheon this afternoon. As paramedics transported him to the hospital he was observed as being in status epilepticus (continuous seizures that fail to respond to IV valium or ativan), which is a very bad sign. Doubt that he will be able to return to office. Some bloggers are already speculating that Joe Kennedy will probably eventually assume his uncle's seat.

Although I've never been a Kennedy fan, I wouldn't wish the suffering of late stage brain cancer on anyone, especially if non-responsive to anticonvulsant drugs. Statistically his chances of survival for more than a very short time are slim. What doctors may do if they can't control his seizures is to put him in a medically induced coma and offer palliative care. A difficult situation for any family to watch.

Unfortunately he's just one vote out of five.

MT et al will of course see this as AB grandstanding to serve his own best interests, that he is no hero and can't be trusted. If I read that on anti blogs it will only confirm to me that their hatred is personal and they don't give a crap about what's best for Middleboro.

Also, the Town of Mashpee can't be happy to hear that the Brigham's
intend to have the agreement struck by Hendricks with the town not to pursue lands there null and void based on fradulent leadership practices. Suspect though that battle will be fought in court.

bogofree said...

Now that will be interesting to view this morning as I have a coffee and attempt to shake a cold.

Be interesting to see the responses to AB's position. I like the idea of nullification of the agreement with Mashpee as just maybe that could open up the possibility of the gin mill being located there.

Rocky said...

I like Bond's position. Look to the failed attempts and thrown out cases against the tribe by the Binghams as guidance. That is a great legal strategy for failure. Do you get paid for your service?

Looking to the Bingham's for legal stratagy? Bond, we thought you were smarter than that.

I was prelaw a long time ago and could not afford to continue my education. His actions could cost this town millions of dollars.

Is that what he wants? Is cosy with Aaron Toby? I wonder what promises will be made.

His comment on racism. Who called Bond a racist? Does he think he himself one so he has to clarify it before someone accuses him? Guilt?

Hey Bond, post the letter from the towns lawyer. You talk a great game but show the people what the town was told to do. If you dare.

I got nothing better to do. Doctors appointment at 11:45.

bogofree said...

I read the article and some of the comments that have been posted on it specifically at MT's blog. I have somewhat mixed emotions on the methodology of AB. I certainly support the review of the IGA and would love to see the gin mill project either deep sixed in Middleboro or a nice fat check in excess of 20 Mil delivered each year. As far as the legal maneuvers that is an area I am certainly not sure of except when extended legal hassling takes place lawyers do profit. The first thing you learn in law school is not if your client is guilty or innocent or if your case has legal merit or not - but how many hours you can bill.

Then you have what Rocky has mentioned and some of the comments on the blogs that are similar and it comes down to what I have said about message and messenger. As far as positions they change as the FACTS change and you can see that with just the evaporation of support for “The Raven.” Now the issue becomes what is in the best interest of the town long term? Casino or no casino? Old IGA or new IGA?

You will eventually see a casino in Massachusetts, but it won't be in Middleboro and it won't be Wampanoag. Also, the anti casino loud mouths can't take credit for its defeat. The indictments and friction within the tribe killed the deal along with the present state of the economy. The way many have conducted themselves throughout this debate along with the unfolding of events has proven to me that anyone is capable of anything. This whole brouhaha has turned me from skeptical to cynical and I don't particularly feel good about that.

The real problem with this whole mess was the rush job. If they had waited longer, complied more substantive facts, did a little discovery on their partners and actually conducted a series of open forums and closed it off with a real election this would not be an issue today.

A whole year has been wasted arguing about something that should have been on tha ballot in the fall of 2008.

The term I had used is this process was like going on a blind date and finishing off the evening by getting married.

I am the last one to comment on maturity. Reminds me of Woody Allen talking about how immature his first wife was since she use to come into the bathroom when he was taking a bath and sink his toy boats.

An obviously frustrated Adam Bond wrote a second follow-up blog about a half hour ago in which he really castigates Mimi Duphily and discloses the recent advice offered to the BOS by Whittesley. Lots of "he said/she said" in the content. He's really going out on a limb here and I suggest that folks take the time to read it. It appears that there's a lot going on behind the scenes, much of which we probably are unaware of. Also, there's always at least two sides to every story and who knows what's really going on. This is getting better than the soaps.

bogofree said...

Lot of speculative stuff and rumors especially on other blogs. Certainly deserves a wait and see approach. Some have stressed caution and I agree.

I can't imagine why this has become such a public display of animosity by members of the BOS. Going public is one thing but going public with excessive venom will accomplish little. This BOS needs a mommy or daddy to send some folks to time out. Maybe the TM can speak to them? Maybe they have connections to former BOS members who could provide council? Whole thing is like watching "E" on TV.

On his blog AB certainly explains his position and does base much of his actions upon the advice of Attorney Whittlesey. His blog is quite extensive on the issue and his actions and how he interprets the actions of other BOS members. Personally, I’d love to see the deal scrapped and a better one put in place or the whole casino issue packed up and moved to Mashpee. Here is the link.

Love him or hate him, Adam is the only member of the BOS willing to either re-visit the IGA or scrap it. All references to his percieved past sins or what he may be up to now are irrelevant. He's all we've got folks. No other member of the Board is willing to challenge the Agreement. And as for Mimi, her personal affiliation and easy access to the tribe and its representatives is problematic and needs to be considered.

As for Hal's critique of AB's blog etiquette, maybe he should be wondering less about protocal and more about the real possibility that Adam finally got pissed off enough to reveal some things we need to be aware of and question about some members of our community.

bogofree said...

I posted the following on Hal’s site and while I agree he may be all we have, Rocky, I question the methodology at this juncture. The mutual broadsides are amusing for gossips like myself but will only cause further entrenchment.

"Hal...I am amazed at this public display. I have been totally in favor of a review of the IGA and I'm sure many others would like to see that happened or the IGA just sunk. But what has taken place in the last week is a family (BOS) fight gone very public. You points were right on target in your editorial.

Adam once called me "His severest critic" on the nemasket site and I assume that was before he paid attention to MT. When I see actions like this I have to think of two terms the first being an exit strategy and the second being a deflection. Time for some intermediaries somewhere to step in and restore some semblance of order."

I believe what Mr. Bond is attempting to do would be in the best interests of the town - reviewing the IGA - but I am appalled at how he is going about doing it.

He didn't get his way with fellow board members so he went public on this and I question how he proceeded on that. There are disagreements and issues to be ironed out and a process by which to do it. To be blunt is now the time he should have gone directly to DEFCON I? He may be right, wrong or a smoke screen? Time will tell as this all plays out.

I’m starting to think all of them should move to Clark, CT. I would hope the BOS will represent our interests over those of the developers…oops…tribe. Right now this is just a confusing mess with accusations being tossed about or hinted at.

Also, just checked MT's blog where she posted the address of The Board of Bar Overseers. Since that contact only pertains to reporting indiscretions/breach of ethics by lawyers...and since only one local lawyer is being discussed...I would assume she's suggesting that folks report AB for whatever. A bit of an over-reaction on MT's part since the Bar Association dismisses unsubstantiated, frivolous complaints as nuisances. People need to chill, sit back, and wait to see where all this mess leads before jumping the gun.

I’m a pro casino person and I was all for the deal but now that I reflect back let’s try for more. The BOS should be behind AB with support and not a knife. The BOS represents the TOWN. They are pledged to support an IGA that may be totally bogus.

Holy! Jumping cabbage Patch dolls!

I was reading comments from a blog and the name BK came up as a supporter in all this.

Isn't there a monetary instrument with BKs name on it.

I wonder if those computers are flying out the windows yet?

Hey Bogo Duck! flying tomatos.

MIA. Not

I want the money donated to the googly eye defence fund.

This is getting all too confusing for my simple mind. Can't wait for spring training to start. The initals get me all confused as I have to stick with my staples such as OBP, SP, RBI and so on. LOL!

Just keep an eye out for large black cars as the Feds love to drive them. Look for rented Ford's with Taurus the car of choice as it is roomy and non descript. Might as well feed into it. LOL!

I need a new computer. Will I be able to grab a tossed one that has had the hard drive snatched?

bogofree said...

Why bother getting a copy of the Soap Opera Digest...just read the blogs.

"The BOS should be behind AB with support and not a knife."

Should they also walk two setps behind their man or take the AB knives from their backs and accept that Bond drew first blood.

Bond attacked the board and you expect them to follow him? You are as crazy as JP. Wait until you find out what is in the AB closet his meetings and phone calls and emails and people he is connected with. It will all come out.

"The BOS represents the TOWN."

Right but Bond dont like when the BOS dont follow the self anointed King of Middleboro.

BOGO
Whats a zip drive ? Why are they so hard to find round here ?

bogofree said...

A Middleboro "Night of The Long Knives."

Rocky...calling a poster "Crazy as JP" Man...that is a low blow...LOL!

Anon: Our budget is balanced! Recycle charge for a computer until this is over is 250K. Loan officers on hand. Line up at the dump (sorry...landfill).

I have no idea what is going on and with whom. All I want is the IGA redone with more money....a lot more....and without us getting stuck with a casino at no charge.

Bogo,
Be honest as you can. OK! Is it true everything CFO and BB supported has failed?

We can go into the list but why bring up a beat up chicken.

Well CFO goes on a field trip to Boston, Yea Sal, type garbage.

You see the outcome.

BB gets invoved with some half drunk scheme trying to get you a running trail or I suspect the Olympic friggen stadium to run around.

Just look at the mess!

Are we on the same page yet?

bogofree said...

Everything has failed? Hmmmm....let me see...hmmm. We have had a nice list of faux pas by both. CPA went down in flames...I think? CFO had quite of list of PR blurbs. And that running trail? Oh...you stabbed me in the heart! LOL! Gone until the future when I hope it is walker - as in mechanical walker - friendly. I'm trying to come up with a list of successes for both and will probably get back to you on that after my vacation to Clark, CT

Rocky said...

why not get a group together to do paths around town. have people donate money and junk. people may contribute to it.

bogofree said...

LOL, Rocky. Mboro has more trails than almost any town. Hundreds of miles of trails. Rocky Gutter alone has at least 50 miles of trails. These will soon be clogged with discarded computers.

bb is the like the grim reaper. everything he touches turns sour, shrivels and dies. someone made the post they think he is basically a nice guy. turkey feathers! look at all the crap he links to and how he assails anyone who disagrees with his omniscience. he is now only fooling people that have consumed his kool aid (flavor of super sour lemon) he cannot give up on jessie she his last true pawn.

a referesher on his track record

^multiple trespasser upon property he is at war with. never truly apologizes -- just looking for cool turkey feathers.
^supports jp at all costs, clark ct
supports mt
^wont retract mistakes
^cpanow money is minuscule
^links to every nasty website
^posts "questionable" things -- does not apologize
^calls people "anonymous cowards" on toxic then lets his own cowards post anonymously on his websites
^gives credence to someone calling middleboro people third rate dipsh*t citizens.
^said inflammatory things about oak point
^tells everyone to vote like him and support marijuana
^makes public demands to another website
^becomes friends with AB then lets loose on every other BOS member.
^allows post by monkberrymoon
^the list goes on.

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind a moustache

And no one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling lonely lies

But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
i have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

Bumkin I see on your blog that you and smoking owl are planning to meet. You can discuss a belief you both seem to have in common, that Middleboro people are third class d*psh*ts. Great conversation starter.

This is must read from the Globe on DiMasi the savior of hope and bastion of righteousness for CFO. CFO AND others throw all these hints of impropriety about the BOS around. It looks like DiMasi is the real deal (pun intended)

This is from the lead paragraph: "DiMasi, dogged by a series of influence-peddling controversies involving close friends"

It would be nice to see BB, GK, MR, CC and 1623 throw him under the tour bus to Foxwoods (you will have to tie the url together)

From Big B

"The board took a position that is illogical and against advice of our casino lawyer.

Bond - keep whining."

The board took a position that is exactly what the casino lawyer said. Not what Bond wanted. How is it that BB can't understand that? Is he getting his information from Bond?

That new guy running for the board better stay clear of the Bosum Buddies Bond and Bumpkin. It will cost him the election.

BOGO,

Good Morning.

I remember a conversation you and I had.

It was all about stocks. How well you were diversified in the market.

That was probably the best piece of advise you ever gave me.

Thank You.

bogofree said...

I was diversified and got killed in the foreign end - Asian and South America suffered huge losses as did real estate. Liquidadted half of every mutual fund position months ago but what I played into continued to drop and those were solid stocks - Google (GOOG), Alcoa (AA), General Electric (GE), Microsoft (MSFT), Corning (GLW)and several others. Have two bank positionswith CitiGroup (C) and Morgan Stanley(MS) that have crossed each other out. Bought Lehman Brothers(LEH) at $10 and should have know better. Thought I bought low on blue chips but loss some more. They'll eventually get up again so my estate can enjoy the returns. Been playing airlines as some have dome rather well especially United (UAUA) and Delta (DAL). Energy and commodities covered up some losses but the bottom line is I took a 35% + beating as of Friday. Diversified in the current situation means little as this is now across the board on everything.

There are some great buys on blue chip stocks at this point if anyone has any cash. I should have waited with the above as now I'm waiting for a recovery on them and if the earnings and debt reported by AA and GE last week are any indication it will be a long road.

When you look at the reseach data on mutual funds it is laughable. One, three, five and even ten year returns are a disaster. For once CDs and treasury notes were the best buy.

Anon...I hope you made out OK which means losses in the 10-30% range. Just remember - not a loss until you sell!
