Read an article detailing how successful English immersion programs are for immigrants and especially the young. Seen some in action and have to fully agree - especially the young kids.
Along those lines we can thank the father of Joe DiMaggio for making his sons such great ballplayers. He actually ordered them to play baseball rather than European games “since you are now Americans.”
And further along those lines. Soccer is a great sport for kids until they are old enough to choose a real sport.
Occasionally I actually sponsor good things for the few that read this blog - even Jessie’s voter registration drive - and Wally’s appears on the sidebar. Elks are one of many organizations that do wonderful work we hear little about.
One thing I have noticed about getting older is that for an active person the injuries are more frequent and the recovery is longer. Maybe there is something to the sedentary lifestyle?
I’m not sure about “Brian’s Brain” but his heart and his daughters certainly seems in the right place. Fish take notice.
I wonder if Jessie managed to inform Governor “One And Out” of all the important “facts” she has collected on ESL teachers, towns around the Connecticut casinos, oxygen and Clark, CT.?
Specking of the Governor he was in visible attendance at the Garden on Sunday for deployment festivities for 650 soldiers. Return safely 101stFA, 164thTB and RCAG.
An override committee is now up and running in Middleboro. Will this be a hard sell in these times. I have a link on my sidebar and it would be nice for pro/anti/neutral to exchange opinions here or elsewhere. I’m sure there are areas to cut costs further but IMHO they will still need a Clark load of money.
If anyone has anything they wish to have posted on the side bar or linked just drop me an email or post it for me to transfer and to add to links.
DeLeo has the full court press ready to open up in February for slots and a potential casino. IMO the slots are almost a sure bet. Casino is another story.
The ACLU is - big surprise - in the lead against more stringent measures regarding pre flight boarding. The idea of profiling seems to be especially testy with them. IMHO you should interview every Muslim male between 18-35. That is the most significant profile for terrorists. I find no problem with the new body scans since my body is ultra buff and I will have to fight off TSA Agents - male and female I suppose.

Belichick's coordinators should have stayed with him. None of them have done well as head coaches. But their paychecks did improve.
Man-Genius may get canned by the Browns in his second coaching job since leaving the Patriots. Charlie Weiss was terrible at ND.
Speaking of football. Bogo, how are those Giants doing? LMCAO!
The Giants had a "remarkable" season. They had 5 games in which their defense gave up 40+ points. Amazing. As for the Pats the season will be over for them about 4PM on Sunday.
Does anyone know how the collection of snow plowing affidavits is going?
How long does it take to get 12 signatures? The "true heroes" filed the suit pronto. But now everything seems to have come to screeching halt.
Yeah I am sure someone wants to sign something from AB.
Say, Al Gore, how is that global warming thing working out in England?
If anyone attended the 2 and 1/2 meeting feel free to post any info. I was planning on attending but had to attend a farewell dinner.
Lots of Casino stuff about to happen. The Cape Wind Farm is going to be a great leveraging tool. Obama is getting involved too.
Inside sources tell me that February is going to be a great month at both the State & Federal level.
A lot of people who celebrated the death of the casino last Spring are going to have egg on their face.

I agree with you on the casino issue and am an unabashed pro on the issue. This has been a long process with all the politics involved and the serious problems the tribe had. The fact that the state legislature is leaning in that direction will also help as I think part of their grand plan will be a resort casino or two.
There would be no need for an override if this deal had gone through as planned. As it is I am a solid no on an override and it all comes down to the money.
No matter what you or I think anonymous, it always comes down to money.
I agree with my other twin anonymous and certainly all about the money.
Government employees use to get wages that were rather slim so benefits were added on and now those benefits and that means especially health care is a big bite out of any budget. Wages have also increased dramatically. Looking at that I have a difficult time voting a huge tax increase for myself.
I am about 90% sure I will vote in favor of the override.
I don't care for the amount and would have been interested in a menu of choices but they are going all or nothing.
Passing will be a long shot.

Global warming can make it rain lizards.
Best wishes to Hal & Betty Brown
I saw both "Avatar" and then "Geronimo: An American Legend" (on DVR) yesterday. The story lines were almost identical.
I had never heard of the Geronimo movie, it had an excellent cast and good cinematography. Avatar did not do any of the hoakie in-your-face 3D stuff. The 3D was used as a tool to give the movie depth.
My wife - The Lovely Cynthia - has expressed interest in seeing Avatar and that surprises me since Sci Fi is of little interest to her.
I love reading Sci Fi but tend not to see movies and Avatar holds little interest - but I will see it based on the buzz.
It is my very sad duty to announce that Betty Brown (Hal's Wife) just passed away after a well fought battle with Cancer. She fought so hard and she lived such a great life. Please keep Hal in your thoughts as his health has also taken a toll over the past few months.

What's with the web site for sale?
The senate race is interesting.
This is the first time in my memory that a vote for a federal seat could actually matter since the redistricting (gerrymandering) of 1982.

****Plowgate Update***
The Plowgate "heros" will be back in court (with affidavits) at 2 p.m. in Plymouth on February 2nd.
I plan on attending. It will be up to others to clean up the carnage left behind by the heroes.
I may join you as I want to see "Billy Fallon" in action. Maybe I should bring my dog?
We can carpool. Get your and Adam's close friend BB to join us. I will drive and spring for lunch Then we can go hear the announcement "HERE YEE HERE YEE: We are now in session for the egregious act of Middleboro plowing tax payers' unaccepted roads.
We can go to the Guru Grille (gurugrille.com) for lunch. Real Indian cuisine (sorry -- not the Christopher Columbus variety). I am a lover of aromatic cuisine. It is not all just spicy as heck.
BB can even bring his not-so-anonymous blogger that claims I am provincial and never left the town. However, Since BB does not read this blog he will be unaware of the offer.
Give me a call if you dare to join in on the ride. I can drop you off at the corner so no one will know with whom you came. LMCAO
My truck seats 6 adults. Sounds like good time and assured. Rick (oops Bogofree) and I will get a few laughs out of anyone.
It will be great to watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas, i have bought tickets from
http://ticketfront.com/event/How_The_Grinch_Stole_Christmas-tickets looking forward to it.
